Five guys, not just burgers and fries, but surprises too! My wife and I have been on a wedding diet, a diet which stripped out most foods, core amongst them burgers and fries. With our wedding coming up and us wanting to look our best, we decided to add a little incentive to get to our wedding weight; the idea of a Five Guys burger we would devour the following day. We even put it in our joint calendar to ensure we didn’t forget (like we could forget that).
We went to the Five Guys in Ashton-Under-Lyne, walked up to the counter and my Wife of 1 day said something so unusual, something so out of character of the woman I’d spent the last 10 years with, that I just couldn’t understand or say anything. It was a password…
The woman behind the counter began to tell me that they knew we were just married and we had planned to come to Five Guys to grab some burgers that we were craving having made our wedding weight target. She went on to say that they were so happy we’d chosen to come to Five Guys that they got us some t-shirts and that our whole meal was on them.
I was confused as anything, I really didn’t know what was going on. I began to laugh and tell her how well we’d done losing weight and that this was something we were both looking forward to.
As I did, I could see all the staff all the staff looking at us, they must all had been briefed in what was about to happen, but I was still in shock.
We ordered our food and then waited for a couple of minutes. It’s here where my wife began to describe what was going on. She’d contacted Five Guys to tell them of our wedding diet journey and how we’d been so strong over the last 7 months, refraining from our favourite burger joint to make sure we looked our best on the big day; but we were going to come in the day after the wedding as a big treat to ourselves. My wife just wanted to try and make this meal special, as things had been quite stressful, especially on the week leading up to the wedding. The Five Guys staff were overjoyed at this prospect and put her in contact with the store manager and got everything in motion.
A couple of staff members, including the woman who took our order, came out to chat to us. We described our wedding diet and how much we’d lost and chatted about our wedding. We got married on the 10th anniversary of our first date and we showed them some pictures we’d just received and it made them tear up a bit, which was really sweet.
We popped the t-shirts on (which are awesome) and took a couple of pictures. We sat down and waited for our food which the manager (Ollie) brought out to our table. We chatted to him about the wedding and thanked him for such a kind gesture. It was definitely a surprise and all the staff could see how happy I was at this. It was really amazing and something that will definitely stick with us for the rest of our life.
We tucked into our burgers which were perfect (as always) and Cajun fries (there was a mountain of fries in the bag) and I continue to be astounded by what my wife and Five Guys had planned for me.
This was something really special, and it may not seem like much, but it put a really big smile on my face and I think it made the food taste better. Thank you Five Guys, you...
Read moreDon't order bacon from here. 2 items ordered with bacon on. 80% on one had to be thrown and 100% on the other was thrown too. Took pictures of the bacon, as back up in case I needed to show it. I have received feedback already, saying it's cooked to 5 guys exacting standards.....I've not even shown them the coal bunker pieces I received to eat in our BLT's and bacon burgers. Yeah I'd avoid this one.
Edit after response.
Of all the one star reviews on here.....and there's many tbf. Only mine has had a response. Must have touched a nerve maybe. Hahaha. So if that's just the way it is. I'm glad most companies don't operate in this manner. BMW went to great expense to change their EGR's having responded to customers feedback. Philips changed a vibrating transformer on their CRT some yrs back from dealer feedback at store level (there are many examples over the yrs from many industries) even McD's take on board customer feedback eg the temp of apple pies and temp of hot drinks now is served at an average of 72°C. 5 guys are above these companies obviously. It appears 5 guys don't accept feedback on the bacon they use....so will keep on using it and respond like a sofa and just sit there giving a generic response to, "it's to our standards". Well your standards are lacking on your supplier of cooked and cold bacon. Take this store alone. You'll see many reviews complaining about "charcoal". Don't like feedback hey, ok. There are plenty of other places in the same leisure park. Don't want to refund? ....also ok. Your company won't get another penny from me. Also your response is contradictory. You first off say that standards were met. Also this is the standard is the same throughout your business.....but then say we'll address this with the team and keep them up-to-date. By saying what. "Tell customers that our bacon is burnt to the point of not being edible." Yeah that will sort it. 💁♂️ It's not all bad news. The shakes are the best out there. But the way I've been ignored on my complaint via email (yes I did ask to be contacted) and the lack of customer service 5 guys have...
Read moreI visited Five Guys earlier today and it was my first experience, as I walked in I could tell it was a well kept restaurant, the seating areas and floors were spotless and clean, the staff looked well groomed and were very friendly and answered all my queries and the restaurant had no seating plan so you could sit wherever you wanted , I ordered the Bacon double cheeseburger , regular fries and a regular drink cup, the Food was cooked to order so was fresh which is always a good sign, the order took less than 5 minutes to make and receive. So regarding the food itself, I can say the Burger was spot on, the meat was tender , the cheese melted nicely with crispy bacon and the burger was not too big or too small, was easy to handle and did not fall apart in my hands, the fries was a good portion for regular order and was cooked in peanut oil so it gave them a nice sweet taste and was local produce which is great as they are supporting local farmers and the drink was free refill and the dispenser was not flat and was maintained so the drink was fizzy and many different flavours to choose from, all in all a great experience however the reason I gave a 4 star rating was due to the price. It cost me £17 for my meal which is not competitive. I noticed that Five Guys do not have meal deals so I paid for everything at full price , I would recommend Five Guys looking at doing Meal Deals to draw in more business as I could see that the restaurant was not packed out which this may be the reason for this . If anyone is thinking of going I would recommend it but make sure you...
