This pub was okay but falls down in small ways that could easily be rectified.
Cleanliness: the tables and chairs were very clean but there is a bit of a fly problem, particularly outside of the ladies toilets.
Service: the barmaid gave me the wrong drink (changed quickly with no quibble), but as I only ordered two drinks, it's not a great show. The menus had to be requested, they weren't at all obvious. Once we'd ordered and sat down, we watched a couple come in, wait and leave without even being noted by staff as they were all in the kitchen chatting. The kitchen door was permanently open, not very attractive for us, sat right across from it. We ordered a meal from the specials menu, only to be told after about 15 minutes that it wasn't available. I could forgive this if the pub was very busy, but we were the second order of three in the whole place.
The food was nice, particularly my husband's spicy chicken burger.

Read moreFirst visit to this pub and definitely the last, on arrival we stood at the bar for the best part of 10 minutes and was totally ignored (the bar wasn't busy) then after finally being seen to by the most unfriendly young lady we were pointed in the direction of our table where we were totally ignored again for another 25 minutes. No menu was offered to us infact not a word was spoken to us so we decided to get up and leave. We left our drinks on the table. All in all I can confidently say this is the worse Customer Service we have ever experienced.
Going forward from your response to my earlier review we never expected table service or another menu we were happy to have Sunday lunch & also happy to order from the bar but because we were ignored we had no idea what we had to do...
Read moreBooked a meal in this pub for the England v Germany Euro 21 match as we were on holiday in Dawlish. The pub was a traditional pub which looks great and is in a brilliant location, we were shown to our seats in a very clean skittle alley which was set up with a big screen and a fabulous atmosphere. We had table service, the whole night there was a member of staff near by to wait on us and we didn’t wait for drinks, we ordered jacket potatoes which were so nice and the prawn filling was beautiful tasty prawns. The staff at the pub could not do enough for us and we had the best evening which was only made better by England winning 🏆 If you are in Dawlish you must pop in the Brunswick Arms for a drink or meal, you will not be disappointed. Thank you for a great night, we...
