8 of us walked in with a child. Felt a little bit like the old wild west saloon when we walked in. Staff not very friendly and seemed a bit taken aback that they had some customers arrive. Asked if they could accommodate 8 of us with a child.... Despite there being lots of empty tables they said the best they could do was 2 separate tables.. No offer to push tables together despite having the room. Didn't really seem like they wanted us there. Odd really considering they were about to receive income from 8 people. Fortunately a friendly couple offered their large table to us. Just seemed like a really odd atmosphere in there, particularly off one of the female staff members. To be honest she had a bit of an attitude - she clearly didn't like children or customers. Not sure if they were having a bad day or had an influx of customers that they couldn't cope with prior to our arrival? We left at 2pm and considering it was one of only a few tea rooms in Dawlish they were empty.... Probably a sign really!

Ordered 2 cream teas, quiche, panini and 4 ploughman's and drinks. 1 ploughman's came with no fruit as advertised. All 4 ploughmans were scrimped on ingredients and ingredients were clearly cheap. Small amount of cheese. Cheap salad. Small amount of chutney. Cheap small silverskin onions. Bread nice but all meals came with different thickness of bread. Overall not worth the price for the ploughman's, and probably wouldn't eat here again. Clearly not set up to provide a quality experience.... More aimed at the mass tourist market. Walked out past gays creamery and...

We had a beautiful cream tea here yesterday afternoon with my aunt on her 80th birthday. Four cousins were joining us from Ireland as a surprise for my aunt but their flight had been delayed. Even though the tea rooms were closing the owners and staff went out of their way to accommodate us and allowed us that special time to celebrate. We will be forever grateful. The cream tea is by far the best I’ve ever eaten and the scones were absolutely delicious with just the right texture. The atmosphere and the setting was amazing and the mill wheel is the perfect backdrop for photos. And we also got to see the famous black swans just right outside their door. I’d highly recommend and will be sure to come back on our annual visit. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Just a fabulous experience all round. Wishing the owners...

visited this tea room as it looked really nice we had to sit outside as we couldn't get the wheelchair in went in to order cream tea for two and a cream tea for one my husband was talking to the girl behind the counter and another member of staff very loudly said excuse me but very abruptly but my husband was talking to the young girl which upset us then the man said you will need another cup of tea as there was not enough tea with the cream tea for two but it's described as a cream tea for two so we ordered another tea which cost us an extra 2.00 when our cream tea arrived there was enough tea for two so was a bit upset felt like they was ripping us off and as for the scones they was not nice very rubbery so will...

Amazing!! Tried the 'sweet'cream tea which was served with salted caramel spread instead of the usual strawberry jam a unique twist on a classic which was delicious a big warm scone & clotted cream(my only critique- I wldve like extra cream only a tiny pot of roddas for a large scone) along with a nice cuppa served in proper China cup& saucer beautiful setting with water wheel next to the Brook friendly staff 2, thoroughly recommend 1 of nicest cream teas I've had nice 2 have a dif spread we've had many cream teas in dif resorts Inc lemon curd & Nutella but salted caramel was my favourite!!

We came to the Old Mill during a COVID-induced staycation in Devon. As I expect most London exiles do, we ordered the cream tea. The scones were hefty and fresh. The tea was very nice. The clotted cream and jam were excellent. We even had that little "haw haw haw" tourist moment when we tried to remember which order to put the name and cream on before deciding, perhaps controversially, that it didn't really matter. Excellent service. Nice place. Big water wheel. Seagulls like to steal food.

A great little tea room in the wonderful town of Dawlish. The afternoon cream tea is well worth a try. Wonderful brie and chilli jam sandwich, two scones cream and jam, crisps salad and coleslaw and a lovely yogurt flapjack... Yes that's for one person. We shared.....🤣 Very strong tea just how it should be... Friendly staff and served promptly... Lots of attention to detail which makes this tea room a winner...
