I had a lovely Chicken Curry. It was hot, but you could still taste the flavour of the Spices. I've had Curries where they were just hot, you couldn't taste the food or spices. This one I recommend. I prefer it without the Coriander. That's just me. The Mango Chutney is a must, it adds the finishing garnish. An update to this review. I'm afraid this is something I witnessed today that happened to my father, I tried to defend my father but wasn't listened to. We went to our assigned table, unfortunately there was a draft coming from the window behind Dad, yes it was generally hot, but my father has now got serious problems which makes it difficult for him now. It's been found to be circulatory and nerval. This makes him feel colder than someone like me. Dad asks this member of staff after taking our order if he could close the window behind him. She said we cannot close any of the windows. She actually laughed at Dad as well. Yes to a general person that would be ridiculous. But to those who's looked after elderly ones, it's not. Elderly ones can feel the cold more. Nothing to be laughed at. My father is 71 nearly 72. I have to help him. Dad after she said this said "I didn't say shut all of the Windows!" He tried to say something more and she said "You needn't be rude!" I then said to her or tried to that Dad wasn't being rude, she wouldn't listen to me either. What was more wrong was that she started talking about Dad to another Customer and started laughing about it. Dad told me that the customer kept turning around and looking at Dad and laughing when the member of staff and the customer was chatting. That was wrong! Totally against customer service. This is a shame because we have been going there for a long time. The food was well cooked. They did try to put themselves out. They helped us over when my Mum died. But with this incident and others, which actually has been witnessed by others, there was a particular witness that said said they was not happy at all with how we were treated, didn't leave a good impression of the restaurant. We said at the time to our friend that maybe she was having a bad day. We've just had enough now. Really...
Read moreExterior uninviting, interior bland and uninspiring. But in as much as we were very hungry, we decided to give Daveys a try anyway.
Waiting staff didn't really have much sense of urgency and appear more attentive towards some other diners who are clearly regulars..
The mood started to wain further when a couple of noisey young children were brought in, as we only wanted to enjoy our food in peace and quiet.
Then...
Our food was brought out in a timely fashion, without excessive waiting time, and was of a quality that rapidly turned my frown upside down !! I rated this eatery with 3 stars as I was considering everything in the experience that it was. I would have no difficulty in giving a 5 star review, if, on my next visit the place had been brightened up a bit.. this in itself would probably re-motivate the waiting staff into being more expedient and attentive, and this in itself would probably be rewarding to Daveys in the form of increased revenue, but also in the form of gratuities for the staff.
We intend to give Daveys another go, perhaps sometime in the New Year, so...
Read moreI was recommended Daveys by a friend who lives in Essex, if she hadn't recommended I probably wouldn't have found it! What can I say, from the moment we walked in the staff looked after our every need. They were attentive, polite and made us feel like it was our home! My kids said about how fresh and tasty the food was! One of my kids had the children's chicken and chips, proper chicken in the chicken strips and the chips, were done to exactly how I like them (they may be slightly pale, but spot on!). The deserts were large portions and the prices, were brilliant! I cannot rave enough about this restaurant! Well worth a visit! You won't be...
