Wimpy — Restaurant in Tendring

We went on a quiet Sunday evening, waiting staff were polite and courteous, good selection of drinks, lovely milkshakes if like me you're partial to a thick shake. The food was the downside for the price you don't get much, a half pounder with bacon and cheese and chips is £9.71 at the time of writing. The chips were great, the burger was not. It reminded me of burgers I've eaten at football grounds and they are a third of the price. The Bacon in the burgers was spot on, nice and thick. Shame the meat patties and cheese didn't follow the bacon. For a place that predominantly serves burgers, it needs to up it's game, a flame grilled burger with some of thickness to it would have gone a treat with the Bacon. Either or half the price of the burger. The milkshakes are worth the £2.99 so worth a visit if only...

The food was amazing, the milkshake was the best milkshake we have ever tried. The food was freshly cooked and presented well. The first member of staff was rude and ignored us, but a lovely young girl came and served us and was very friendly and helpful. I did see the same girl cleaning every table someone had eaten at.

The toilets were the only let down of this restaurant, no soap, tap just kept spinning around and only a drop of water came out. The hand drier only went on for 2 seconds and off again. The toilet floor was very dirty .

The restaurant needs some money spent on it, as it has tape over the cracks on the floor to hold it down.

Went to Wimpy Clacton on sea yesterday. (August, 11 2022)

The place just doesn't feel clean. Demonstrated by the toilets / floor and sticky tables. The food was average - nothing special. Our server was great, (very friendly and efficient).

I don't plan on returning to Wimpy in Clacton ever again. Loved it as a kid, and wanted my kids to experience it... But even they rated it 1. There are a lot more nicer places to eat and you'll have a better experience and be cheaper. PS: Check my ratings, I've never rated anything 1!
