Outstanding Dining Experience at Thai Vintage Restaurant

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Thai Vintage Restaurant in Clacton-On-Sea on Tuesday, 27th August 2024, to celebrate our anniversary. We opted for the set menu for two, and from start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.

The food was incredibly delicious, with every dish bursting with authentic Thai flavors. The variety and presentation of the dishes were impressive, and each course was a delightful blend of fresh ingredients and expertly balanced spices. It’s clear that the chefs at Thai Vintage have a deep understanding of traditional Thai cuisine.

Terrible food. Everything was super sweet, prawns were bland (possibly uncooked?) . Food was delivered 2 hours after placing an order. That’s not how you make Thai curry. This place is not authentic Thai food.

Called the restaurant, they said “our standards are high so we know our food quality is good”

Unsatisfying food. 0/5 if I could give it.

Dishes we ordered

1. sticky rice - bland no salt
2. steamed jasmine rice - bland 0 salt
3. mixed starter - felt like eating oil on each bite. Oh and did I mention awfully sweet veg spring rolls?
4. Gaeng Panang - basically red water with cut up peppers. No flavour, just sweet water that looks like Thai curry....

Im not fussed that it was 30 minutes late (I appreciate its New Years Eve) but I don’t like it when the restaurant hits “out for delivery” and it still hasn’t arrived 30 mins later.

When it did arrive the delivery lady was lovely and friendly!

The duck and the calamari was cold though. The mains were warm but not really hot. We were also disappointed that the calamari was described as crispy but it was really soggy and the duck barely did 3 pancakes, let alone the 6 we were given. The tub was half full and very greasy. The mains were very nice though.

It’s frustrating as this place has always been amazing - good delivery times, hot food, decent portions and quality food. Maybe we’ll just put it down to being busy on...
