The place has been fitted out well with a contemporary interior and has amazing views, the service was friendly and the place had a relaxed vibe.
Why only three stars? Well I'm reviewing it as a cocktail bar because that is what I was led to believe was going to be one of its USP's something new for harwich that we haven't seen before. If you're into mixed drinks you might be disappointed.
The place uses the cocktail machine with its associated collection of premixed ingredients in a bag, nothing fresh here. Spirit selection is poor but the worst crime, and it is a crime, is the use of Sierra's Tequila Silver.
I wanted to be positive, I really did and its not a bad place but I was also looking forward to the town getting somewhere that can mix drinks, unfortunately this isn't it.
Lastly I would just like to give the management a quick tip, get yourself a bunch of tin on tin shakers. The top and bottom don't jam in place like the cobbler shakers you're using do, they are easy to stack up next to the sink and staff won't have to run around trying to find a lid they have put down somewhere as any top will go with any bottom. Just don't forget the...
Read moreThe last time I was here it was an abandoned block of toilets and you'd never know it coming here.
They've done a great job with the in and out decor of the place; it even smells nice, and the little touches really make it a nice place; the wide, unrestricted windows provide a great view of the sea, and there's a lovely mural on the far wall.
We went 9:30 AM on Sunday so service was swift and nice, and the café was quiet. I ordered a decaf oat cappuccino and my mother had a flat white. It's nice that they didn't charge extra for the oat milk and the price of £3.20 wasn't too bad.
We each had a slice of baked goods; I had the peanut butter stack and mum had a cherry bakewell slice, which was also gluten free.
The peanut butter stack was delicious and rich. My only gripe was that the serving size was small. The bakewell slice didn't taste much of cherry, and both were quite cold and hard to cut.
The toilets were really nice; very clean and there's a tampon bin, hand gel and on the whole it's a pleasant place to be. The disabled toilet is spacious and much the same
On the whole it's a lovely coffee shop and I thoroughly...
Read moreVisited this amazing place at the weekend after several recommendations and we weren’t disappointed. Firstly the location views and ambience and something you very rarely get. The standard inside is immaculate as so tastefully done.
I went in the morning with my wife and we both had coffee which is some of the nicest coffee we have had. My wife had the Victoria sponge which was delicious and I had one of the sausage rolls which tasted amazing.
From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and attentive and seated us in the window with a great view although I couldn’t see a table there that wouldn’t have a good view. Whilst there the owner came over and chatted to us - he was a lovely guy and deserves every success. This is definitely a place to visit when in Dovercourt. We are not local but decided to go for a drive and try it out - we will def back back and next time we will try...
