M & A Fish Bar — Restaurant in Tendring

We chose M&A Fish Bar as it had a 4.5 star rating. Our previous fish & chip shop has ceased trading (owner moved away) and was a hard act to follow as they had wonderful food. We ordered and paid via Just Eat. The delivery was made in good time and the food was hot (they did charge £1.75 for delivery, this is shown when ordering). The food, the fish was over cooked with thick crunchy/hard batter, and unfortunately, this seemed to hide the fact that considering we paid for large, the amount of fish inside the batter was disappointing. The chips were hard and crispy, although hubby said he prefers them that way. At £11.50 per fish (1 × large haddock & 1 x large plaice) I would expect it to be cooked nicely, fish doesn't need alot of time to cook, the plaice was mushy. The chips of which we had 2 large portions for three of us, were £5.50 a portion. Had I have been eating in, I would have sent the fish and chips back, they were not particularly enjoyable, the batter was inedible, and therefore thrown away. There were no complaints from our son who had a burger, a half pounder with cheese and with salad. It looked very nice. Firstly when we managed to get there, we were treated with consideration in choosing our food(despite it being near closing time! We hadn't realised as it was such a stressful day today.) When the Food came it was LOVELY. We had Chicken Shish with Salad, Dad had Chips with his, I had Pitta Bread. The Chicken tasted lovely and was well cooked, you could taste a nice delicate seasoning with it. I also enjoyed the pickled Peppers! I HAD to ask them what the dressing was that they used in the salad, it reminded me of a Cider vinegar. I was wrong! It was called Pomegranate Sauce. I enjoyed the whole, fully recommend and will if Dad is able to go, go there again. For the Home delivery, they are good as well. 45 min wait, not like somewhere else had to wait an hour! They don't deserve 5 stars they deserve 500 stars! I was at Clacton-On-Sea on 26th August 2019 and I promised the owner a google review. I decided to try M&A Fish Bar and I was extremely impressed! A very clean and professional service! The customer service was excellent and the food was so delicious I would be a regular customer if only I lived in Clacton. The portions are great as the cod fish is probably longer than my arm. The pricing is excellent and the Fish and Chips tend to be cheaper from surronding places ecspecially where I live too! Anyone visiting Clacton on Sea? I strongly suggest you give them a try becuase it is delicious! You must else your missing it out...
