6th July 2025 Ive just got back from a Sunday roast and it was very nice. I had the vegan nut roast but I pointed out I am veggie not vegan so I got all the trimmings, my friends had beef and pork. All meals were good but I gad two roast potatoes that were under cooked, despite that I had more than enough so missing potato was fine. Followed by sticky toffee pud, apply and blackcurrant crumble, homemaid Baileys ice cream. All very nice. Black coffee was okay, latte was good I'm told. All in all this place still deserves it's good name.

23/11/24 Just got back from a meal here and it was very nice. A very charming young waiter but he was a little lost, I guess we all have to start somewhere. Food was okay, I started with corn ribs which were tasty but one of those veggie dishes you feel a but cheated by with the price. Then I had mushroom stroganoff which was white rice and mushrooms, tasty but that was what it was. I asked for carrots which I was pleased about, it truly needed something other than mushrooms. I then had cheese which was nice.

House wine was good, gin and tonic tasty. They were ready to get rid of us by 10.15pm.

In my opinion the best Fish and Chips in town! Great food but you do need to book! A vegetarian pie that is so lovely! Good outside seating with heaters, one section close to the pub is non smoking. Not a vast car park but Waitrose and public parking is just at the back! Good selection of Wine, Beer and Soft drinks, nice food and a warm and welcoming atmosphere! My only annoyance is that if you go in to drink you can't sit always as it is so packed with people eating as I would say it is an eating pub rather than a drinking pub! Mind you if you go in off season, mid week you can...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Old House at Home in Romsey, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The rustic charm of the place, combined with its modern touches, made for a perfect setting.

The menu offered a delightful array of dishes, each more tempting than the last. I opted for the roast lamb, which was cooked to perfection – tender, flavourful, and accompanied by the most delicious gravy. My partner chose the fish and chips, and it was hands down the best we’ve ever had. The portions were generous, and the presentation was top-notch.

What truly set this place apart, though, was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. They even took the time to chat with us about the history of the pub, which added a lovely personal touch to our visit.

To top it all off, the dessert menu was a dream. We shared a sticky toffee pudding that was simply divine – the perfect end to a fantastic meal.

If you’re in Romsey and looking for a place with great food, wonderful service, and a charming atmosphere, look no further than The Old House at Home. We’ll...

I was working on my laptop and a lady complained that I was typing too loudly. The bar lady listened and did nothing.

So I left almost immediately to work somewhere else and the lady publicly mocked me as I left, laughing. Priority welcome to that sort of clientele, obviously.

I've travelled the world for years working on my laptop in pubs, bars and cafes, and never ever had anyone comment that I'm typing too loudly (it was a Mac too, not a typewriter). Small town small minded mentality?

Perhaps if they had more customers they wouldn't have noticed my typing?

Obviously I won't go back. And since they provoked me (dumb move provoking a customer who's connected to the rest of the world online isn't it?) hand on heart the beer was awful too. Worst I've had in Romsey. Flat beer, miserable looking staff, and just an all round dull, miserable experience.

This pub's obviously for a certain type of person. It's probably not you if you're reading this online. So tread carefully. And in the meantime go and watch the league of gentlemen.

(I notice someone got barred for leaving a bad review...I'm hoping I do...

A real homely feel to this venue. As soon as we walked in, the staff felt super friendly and attentive. Always popping to our table to make sure everything was good and our drinks were topped up. The food was top tier, some of the best that we've had. Camembert and sourdough was sensational. The ham, egg and chips felt next level, and the chicken dish was out of this world. The melt in the middle chocolate pudding was also one of the best we've ever had. If you're looking for a place in Romsey, come here!!

This really is an excellent pub. The food and the service are the best. Lovely historical old thatched pub in the near centre of Romsey. The meals were freshly cooked, using quality ingredients. It I had one criticism... If you are going to charge £20 for a curry with plain rice, please would you consider a small naan bread to be included, shame to cut corners on something that would make a big difference. Thanks.... Everything else, 10 out of 10!
