Lesters Family Pub and Restaurant — Restaurant in Thanet

If you want to take a trip back five decades or more, this is the place to go. When you walk in, you'll see a pastry case and the obligatory dessert carousel. What else would you expect from a diner? Each table has a small juke box. Sadly, they were all out of order last night, but I hope they have the system fixed when we go back.

After being we were given our menu of traditional diner offerings, from breakfast to chicken livers to pie. None of the comfort food options were missing. But I was there on a mission - the French toast, which I had been assured by my husband was the best he'd ever had. So that's what I got. French toast and bacon. Making the perfect French toast is a science. Everything has to be perfectly balanced. If you leave the bread in the eggs and cream for too long, it's a soggy mess, if it's not long enough, it's dry and chewy. The cook here has it down. My three thick slices of toast were perfectly custardy inside, brown with crisp edges on the outside and just sweet enough. They were big enough to almost make two meals. The bacon was a bit on the thin side, but cooked to a perfect crispy crunchy texture.

My daughter had already had dinner, so she opted for a piece of chocolate cream pie. They brought her a full quarter of a pie! It had about an inch and a half of filling, an equal amount of whipped cream, a smattering of chocolate sauce, and the edge was crusted with chocolate jimmies. The only issue was that filling needed to be more chocolatey.

The waitress was very friendly, attentive, and had a great sense of humor. Prices were quite reasonable. I can't...

Lesters is an amazing down to earth pub and restaurant. The owners Barry and sue are amazing as are the girls who serve you. Nothing is to much trouble for any of them! Have been there yet again today for my favourite lunch time dish... Nachos stuffed with chilli con carne and topped with lashings of cheese. Oh my they are sooooo yummy! I have them all the time. As for Barry and Sue I cannot fault them and thank them for what the managed to do for me and my family. We had paid to go for Christmas Day dinner. However my mum who has dementia had to go into hospital and we were busy go up and down seeing her and told she wouldn't be out for Xmas day . I spoke and told sue and she said if I can manage to pick the dinner up from the kitchen back door area then she would do our dinner as a take away meal,. And with Barrys help they did just that for us and only charged us a fraction of the price for it. We also had the rest of the money put aside "behind the bar" as credit to spend when we went in for our future lunches. They really did go above and beyound to make our Xmas day dinner achievable for us at such a difficult time. We have since taken mum and dad in Lester's for a Sunday meal and my god it was superb. Fresh, tasty, large variety of veg, succulent meats, etc. And don't get me started on the puddings ... They were just simply delicious!!! Thank you so much all of you who were involved in boxing up our hot Xmas starters , dinners and puddings and for the lovely kind presents you gave us. You are an all rounder pub that everybody...

Five Stars for Kyle and the Team at Lesters :) We had a truly exceptional experience at Lesters restaurant tonight, and a huge part of that was down to the fantastic service we received from Kyle and the entire team. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel incredibly welcome and well looked after. Kyle and the team was particularly attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The A-Team clearly takes pride in the restaurant and the dining experience. Beyond the outstanding service, the food was also a highlight. We especially enjoyed the lovely Meal from a starter of garlic bread with cheese. To my mums fish special which was fresh and cooked to perfection. My hunters chicken which the serving staff changed to with beans for me was absolutely delicious, and the pudding of a scrumptious carrot cake was the icing on the cake. Thankyou to the Chefs aswell in the kitchen. The entire atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and inviting, and the attentiveness of the staff, led by Kyle, truly elevated our evening. We left feeling completely satisfied and impressed. Me and my Mum also learned about Lester Piggot and the relationship with the name of the pub and restaurant and Frank Thorley aswell.
