I was born "1960" in Margate, just around the corner in college road, I attended Drapers mills where as i have fond memories.. We used to play as kids in and around the Windmill on many occasions, i remember breaking in one Sunday with a few mates, so as we could hide out up the top..... Wow, when i think back how silly this was, we did however get chased away one day by the local bill, this made us re think our hide out, so we moved onto the dug out at Dane Park, we were little villains !!! Read moreThe windmill is fascinating to see as it is still working but when the staff were asked any questions by myself or my son and his friend for their school project, they were either not answered at all or only quickly in an annoyed tone of voice. You can also see livestock and equipment from the past e.g. tractors, ploughs, scythes and milk churns etc There is a cosy cafe and also a souvenir shop where the boys bought a diagram showing how the mill works. Read moreI love my windmills been volunteering here for just over 7 years now and I enjoyed every moment at that windmill I get long with the other volunteering well. I'm so glad the mill is up and running again after 5 years where the mill had a few problems and if it wasn't for me living with my family who restored sarre Mill I doubt I be here volunteering on this and herne mill as wouldn't of known or understood what it purpose was for since I learned bout it since I was 7 I loved...
