There was a large bit of plastic in one of the curries that I ordered. My mother in law choked on it. It could have been much, much worse. What if it had been a child? A child could have choked and suffocated. My mother in law is 70 it could have easily been much worse for her. When contacting the restaurant, they told me that ‘next time I ordered, they’d make sure there was no plastic in it’. That’s disgraceful! Should it not be common practice not to include plastic in dishes. They told us that next time we ordered they’d give us ONE free dish. I will not be ordering from here again or visiting the restaurant and will be informing others to do the same. The restaurant showed absolutely no compassion or understanding. The lady we spoke to on the phone actively laughed when we talked to her. It’s absolutely disgusting.

I was surprised by the generous portions and the great price here. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, a historic building with stained glass window and original features. It’s also open later than most other restaurants so it’s a really good place to know about. I’ll be back!

Thieves and bully’s!

After ordering from here for years, a total of 14 orders in 4 years, I placed an order for a birthday meal. Two hours later, no meal arrived. I contacted the restaurant and was told the meal was on its way. A further hour later it wasn’t here. Contacted the restaurant again and was told no order was placed. Although I had email confirmation, screen shot confirmation directly from the restaurants website and my online banking showed order had been placed, confirmed and paid for. I was called a liar and told to walk down and prove I’d placed an order. So I did! As soon as I entered I showed the owner / manager all three forms of proof and was called a liar and told I had fraudulently made the websites and created online banking screen shots myself to try and steal food and or money from the restaurant. I was shouted at, and the rude thing behind the counter that has been spoken about in every single review started yelling and waving her fingers around in my face. The owner said the website I ordered from was not his restaurants website even though it one million percentage categorically was. He approached customers in his restaurants and said I’m just a mad woman trying to steal and ruin his business. I gave him the option of me calling the police or a family member to come down. At this point he threw me out. A family member arrived and the owner of the restaurant lied through his teeth and made a number of things up about me. Said I was aggressive and frightening. Well funnily enough I have 4 video recordings of the whole situation to prove how the owner and his staff were treating me and what they were accusing me of. When I returned home I did some research and also phoned the bank and they did in fact confirm the payment went straight to the restaurant and they had received it! This restaurant are thieves! They are taking payments via a third party payment platform and keeping the money and accusing customers who have paid of not placing orders. If this has happened to me then god knows how many other people this has happened to! Luckily I had my money returned, but the stress this caused me is unbelievable. I was traumatised for days after regarding the way I’d been aggressively shouted at. Baring in mind I am disabled as well, this had a detrimental impact on my physical and mental health. The owner is a vile, narcissistic bully. Avoid...

We made an error in our order, as we believed we were ordering for the Canterbury restaurant, but made a mistake and ordered for the Margate one - an honest mistake. I rang the restaurant immediately after placing the order which is when I realised my mistake. I apologised for the error and asked the restaurant if they would kindly cancel the order. The restaurant refused to refund me and said they have this issue a lot. I understand that this must be frustrating for the business but this was an honest mistake and that is something they need to address with the Canterbury restaurant if it is an ongoing issue - if it happens a lot it is clearly and easy mistake to make. I explained again that it was a mistake and the person I spoke to told me that even if he cancelled my order I wouldn’t get a refund. He gave me a number to call, which I did, but this number was for a company called ‘order yo-yo’ which was just an automatic message and it said they don’t deal with enquiries about orders and that customers should ring the restaurant directly. I rang the restaurant back, and he told me that he could refund me, but not until tomorrow morning because he was “too busy” (this was on Saturday night so he was proposing to refund me on Sunday morning) it is now the following Thursday night and I haven’t received any refund from the restaurant. I made sure to call within minutes (if that) of placing the order, so no food was being cooked, the restaurant weren’t even aware of my order before I rang them as they had to search for it on the system so they had lost no money through using the ingredients. This could have been resolved fairly and kindly but unfortunately the restaurant chose to lie about not being able to cancel my order, and then when questioned lied again about when they would refund me. Very...

Happened to pass by this restaurant as we were walking around looking for a place to have dinner. The restaurant itself is dated and seatings are very tight. The Asian manager & the serving staffs are unfriendly (not the slightest smile or even a nod!) when we walked in and not even a thank u when we walked out and so unprofessional. I said this because, they can't even go around the table to place the plates and instead passed it to us ( there's only 4 of us! ) The plates are cold and not warm (good Indian restaurants often have warm plates for your food placed just as food is to be served) Asked for a jug of water with our juices only juices were served and water totally forgotten. When reminded only two glasses were brought out. Even more bizarre, our food was served one dish at a time with 3 minutes lapsed between the first dish and the next one. Food tasted just ok, rice portion is very very small but the curry dishes have fair amount of meat in it. Curry dishes is too sweet to be authentic Indian curry. Price wise it is competitive except for the papadoms which cost as much as a plate of chicken dishes! We weren't even asked if we want a papadom each or two. We were served two papadoms per person with a very mediocre taste dips (watery mint sauce and mango based sauce) and that amounted to £8.60. On the whole, I can't justify giving it more than 3 stars. Not likely in a hurry to...
