Deli looked great inside clean well stocked ,fine if expensive cheese display .Decided to order for a brunch on the quayside .Black tea ,pork pie and cheese baguette with red onion marmalade .Tea arrived ten minutes before the food .the Pork pie looked great ,but very disappointed, bland underspiced filling ,and shockingly absolutely no gelatine that should be in every pp that hits the shelves.Consequently a lot of air inside the crust .No excuses. The baguette was presented in a bag made with grated cheese ,not sliced and much of the cheese already in the bag.Really ridiculous trying to eat this as the baguette had been filled with lettuce and tomatoes with cheese last ,so much of the cheese simply fell out into the bag ,sloppily made in my view .Cheese first please then salad .The Red onion marmalade was bitter and didn't work for me especially with the excess salad .So disgusted half of it got junked into a bin as l had no intention of scooping the cheese out of the bag with fingers .At over ÂŁ9 for the baguette it was very very poor, made in a rush with a long wait ,grated cheese is a poor choice if you stand for quality and good value .On this...
Read moreSuperb! We were on holiday in Appledore and popped into Johns deli to get some treats. Wow, we were blown away by the choice and stocked up for the week - no need to go anywhere else for provisions (we ate out locally on several nights of our stay). The service was excellent - very personalised when I was asking for recommendations and without the usual âsales pitchâ designed to make me spend more than planned (I did that anyway thoughđđ). The quality of everything we tried - local cheeses, pies and other deli specials - was top notch and we bought a few extra jars of jams, chutneys and marmalade to take home with us. We also tried the best breakfast butty as a birthday treat one morning - a wonderful messy meal which kept us going all day. So good that we had another the following day which was equally impressive. Thank you so much, weâre already looking forward to...
Read moreI ordered a coffee and pasty to eat on one of the empty tables outside the front on the footpath. I was told that I could drink the coffee and collect the pasty when I left, unless I had the pasty with a salad rising the price another £3.50. Or I could pay the addition cost to sit and eat it with my coffee ???? I did not anything want extra. I took possession of the coffee and asked for the pasty as a take away. I then sat outside with my wife, and drank my coffee, where we divided the pasty and started to eat it. I was then politely confronted by the same woman who served me and she explained that it was unfair on other customers that I was eating a take away at one of their tables. I could remain and drink the coffee but was asked to refrain from eating. In this day and age, I wanted a quick short snack and your store had no facitity...
