I've been coming to Ortica regularly for a few years now and it's one of the best restaurants in Manchester and almost certainly the best vegan restaurant - I highly recommend it. I've brought my carnivorous/omnivorous friends and family there many times and they've also all been blown away, so if you're not a veggie/vegan and are thinking that this restaurant might not be for you then you're missing a trick. The owners are all Italian and are clearly very passionate about their food. The focacia and bruschetta starters are amazing and the pasta and gnochi mains are extremely tasty. The "parmesan" and "mozarella" they use are indistinguishable from real cheese, and their tiramisu is one of the best in Manchester (both vegan and non-vegan) that I've tried. My wife is Italian and is very fussy about her Italian food and she loves the place even more than me.
The venue has a very chilled out vibe and if I lived in Urmston then I'd definitely be popping in just to enjoy a drink even if I didn't fancy a meal - they serve Baladin beers which are some of the nicest Italian beers in my opinion.and they have a great wine menu.
Also, they are very dog friendly! We pretty much always take our two small dogs with us and the staff are always fussing over them and giving them treats.
If you haven't been then do yourself a favour and take yourself, your friends and your...
Read moreYou need to visit Ortica! Their food is absolutely sublime; incredible authentic Italian food and an entirely plant-based menu! A vegan tiramisu!!!! This restaurant is also ideal for anyone who isn’t vegan. The food is delicious, with bold flavours and dishes that meat eaters will be familiar with! I promise you that you will not be disappointed. To top it all off, the staff are so lovely. They are passionate about their business and knowledgeable about Italian cuisine. We were able to buy an additional tiramisu to take home with us, and they packaged up our leftovers too. They also sell Italian pastas, sauces and drinks to take home, at very reasonable prices. Please, don’t sleep on it. Book Ortica for your next meal out, it’s the perfect spot for a romantic meal, a family get together, or a solo treat! Just perfect, 10/10
Note: there’s very little parking available outside due to it being a main road so we parked in the nearby Sainsburys covered parking which is free for 2 hours for customers - so just pop in and buy something before you leave. It’s an easy, well-lit walk from the car park round to...
Read moreThis is a great little restaurant, a really good local find. I have to confess that I am not a Vegan, and although I think I am quite experienced with Italian food (which I love!), I could not imagine how this would work with a Vegan menu - so I was sceptical. However the quality of the food here is really great and the flavours were just fabulous! As a non Vegan I didn't notice anything Vegan about this meal, which was just an amazing Italian meal. Accompanied by a bottle Italian vino this food was top. Hopefully the menu will expand as the place becomes more popular in the future, which with this quality and particular style, seems an inevitability. I had the lasagna which was really good and we also had pizzas which worked really well. The starters were great as well. The staff/owners were really friendly and helpful. So in summary I was wrong to be sceptical about this place - it was really good. A great local place with a unique offering. I will certainly come back (although still...
