So sad that this place has gone downhill so much of late. We have been visiting here regularly for a few years and it used to be really good. Staff would come and ask if everything was ok with your meal, then clear up after you had finished. Those days are long gone sadly.
We went in on Monday evening, 10 Aug 2015. There was only one customer waiting to be served but she was faffing about with her order and, with only one poor lad behind the bar, pulling drinks, taking food orders and making coffees, we waited for the best part of 10 mins just to get drinks. We asked why he was on his own and he said he didn't know where the manager was and his colleague had gone on a cig break.
We later ordered food and waited about half an hour with nothing appearing. It was only when my partner went to the bar and asked what had happened with our food that it appeared. Even then they got my order wrong (asked for a pulled pork wrap, got a pulled pork burger). By this time I was losing the will to live so just accepted what I was given. Luckily the food was quite nice. And I actually got salad dressing with my salad, whereas the last few times I have been told they have run out of dressing.
A lad eventually came to clear away our plates (unusual in itself as you often have to clear plates from a table you want to sit at yourself). He didn't even bother looking at us or asking if our meals had been ok.
I know it is a "cheap and cheerful" place to...
Read moreCame to the Tim Bobbin on a Saturday afternoon. Busy pub, most of the tables occupied. Found a table, we removed all the dirty glasses and wiped it down with wet wipes... In our experience, that's standard for 'Spoons. Ordered on the app; a large wine, a Pepsi and a bottle beer. The bottle of beer came with a half pint glass and the wine in a pint sized chalice. Went to the bar to ask for a wine glass to be told by a very rude barmaid that they had no wine glasses. In fact she wasn't that polite, her reply was 'we have none!' I asked if they had no wine glasses in the entire place and she said 'were short staffed, we have no clean glasses!' so, I took a dirty glass from a table, took it into the toilet and cleaned it out myself. We then ordered food, it took 40mins to arrive and the drinks that accompanied the order came later... Still without the correct glasses Food, drink and dirty tables is pretty standard in all 'Spoons , no drinking glasses and rude staff!??! Not in a rush to go...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend and 3 friends who were visiting from London tried to enter this spoons at approx 11pm and were greeted with a door man who told us that no groups were allowed. The doorman then proceeded to ask if any of our group were couples. Me and my boyfriend responded saying that we were a couple, which the doorman responded “ no be serious” and completely avoided our claim, he did not believe we were a couple and did not let any of us into the establishment even tho we did not pose any threat and we just wanted a drink. We view this as serious homophobia and advise any LGBT couple to avoid this pub. We hope that Wetherspoons replace this doorman and educate their personal on adequate guest management and not to subject any of their guests to homophobia.
What a shame in this day and age that young couples and friends are...
