Sort of between 3 and 4 stars. It's probably closer to 3 (hence the rating) which I'll explain here, but I do feel bad as I have been here many times and not been able to fault it, but I haven't visited in probably a year and I know there have been many staff changes.
The atmosphere is always great here, but we visited for the first time in a long time a few days ago for a party after moving away, and sadly it would appear things have gone downhill in quality control. Let me explain...
The Diet Coke was super watered down, you could barely taste the coke at all.
Also, I know the restaurant switches to oven fries when they run out of their normal hand cut BEAUTIFUL fries (that I love), because I know someone who used to work there... But they had already reached this point at 7pm on a Thursday which doesn't say much for their anticipation of required stock... Furthermore, after finishing our main meal we tried to order a couple more portions of fries and they said it would be a 45 minute wait; which, knowing they were doing oven fries at this point, was unimpressive.
Also there were some issues with the main food. With my order they added extra toppings that I didn't ask for, which I took off and gave to my other half because it was something I didn't like (fortunately it wasn't avocado, which I'm allergic to); my dad's burger was barely warm; my mum's tapas was very tight on the halloumi (barely a couple of thumbnails worth) and her other tapas dishes that had butternut squash that used to be diced up (which was great), they left it all in thick slices (I assume for speed) which means you have to awkwardly cut it up in those tiny tapas dishes (a bit difficult, but not the end of the world), but the main thing is that it's not really cooked through as well as it should be.
The reason we didn't send anything back is because it was palatable and we had already been waiting a longish time for the food and we're too hungry to complain and wait for a remake.
As I said, the atmosphere is always good there, but the food wasn't up to scratch this time. I hope when I go back in the future things have improved and I can...
Read moreI have left this review previously under Bevano lounge but for some reason the owners seemed to have had it transferred to a restaurant in Newport I never dined at. Despite contacting and communicating with the owner at the time there was no resolution
What was once a regular eatery I would choose for my family and I to dine in is now given a rather wide berth. On our last occasion visiting Bevano, my husband and I selected various tapas dishes between us - totally around 8 dishes. During the evening we were both violently sick and waylaid in the lavatory throughout the night! Other members in our household were not unwell at all. I decided to contact Bevano out of courtesy to inform them of our ill health following a visit, simply for the sake of giving them a "heads up" in case other people had experienced something similar. Had this been myself, I would have checked the best before dates on ingredients, their storage and chatted to the kitchen staff. Whilst we never once claimed our illness was bevause of Bevano we did discuss that the only way to "prove" it was, involved providing samples to our drs and by the Monday - our bout of illness has resolved. Nethertheless - it would have been courteous of Bevano to offer us a partial refund considering we spent the weekend vomiting up the contents of our meals or a visit back on the house. Sadly they did not therefore the customer service and consideration for customers is low. And seeing as I have our vomit induced weekend engrained in my memory, it is a firm deterrent for any future visits!
*Update FAO Owner: I contacted you directly and you had little to say of the matter other than advising us to see a doctor. It is therefore quite ironic that you claim I did not. We had quite an indepth written conversation. The beauty of Google Review is that I can leave a review without feeling intimidated by owners like yourself or have the nature of my complaint diminished like you have done. I reiterate also that my review states "Whilst we never once claimed Bevano was the cause of our illness..." it is too strong a coincidence that the two were interlinked...
Read moreI dined at at Bevano Lounge on Saturday 17th August with my daughter. I'm Coeliac and follow a gluten free diet. When we arrived , I spoke to a member of staff about my gluten intolerance and the fact that i am Coeliac, she said the manager would deal with the order because of this. She gave us a gluten free menu for myself and one for my daughter who isn't Coeliac. I wasn't going to have the chips with my meal as I'm always nervous that a fryer may be contaminated . We were reasured that it's only used for chips and assured it was safe for me . 2 to 3 hours later after leaving the restaurant I was very sick , vomiting and diarrhea all night . This is the reaction I get when I have ingested gluten . It's very serious and takes a long time to recover. I felt dreadful . This can only be as a result of the meal I ate at Bevano, I had not eaten any where else and only ate my own gluten free food which I am very strict about . I contacted the restaurant by email and phone to report this . Jeri the assistant manager apologised for my inconvenience and said that their procedure is to complete a form on line with the customer and forward it on to an outside agency who deals with it. This was all done verbally . I have requested that he email me w these details and the name of the outside agency who is dealing with it and who I am waiting to hear from. Jeri was...
