Sarah’s Yard — Restaurant in Trafford

wasnt going to write a review but having booked in for my grandma's 88th birthday and to be told to go elsewhere if we wanted to be accomedated when we were sat at the table i can't not!! Such a shame as it did seem like it could be a bice little venue! Our waitress was helpfull enough, it seemed to be the management/ chef that wasnt, (which i assume was sarah) Even my grandma at 88 picked up on how we weren't really welcome there, It was an extremely awkward experience. We were recommended this place by family member whos a local who said it was nice! I've since told told family they need to try other places as if this is how they're treated then there's a whole new world out there. We arrived to being the only ones there and immediately felt an awkward presence like we shouldnt of been there! (Excluding one young girl with blond hair who was extremely apologetic to the lack of service they could offer) if it wasnt for her we would of left!! We immediately felt like we shouldn't of been there although we were booked in. We had already had a text to say that a new girl had booked us in and they couldn't accommodate us at 10.30 so to come at 11. We turned up at 11 and were given a drinks menu. We asked for a food menu and were told we don't really offer breakfast!! Were shocked as we booked in for breakfast. My mum had come from Liverpool and myself from Bury to take my grandma out for her Birthday! We asked for a few simple breakfast items eggs, bagles etc to be told to go down the road to another place if we wanted them!! I understand mistakes happen if they have booked us in too early but I'm sure they could if accomedated us for a little more. I would like to try for tapas but being so far away and the experience we've had I don't think it's worth the travel for us. My friend and I were really looking forward to our lunch visit after seeing all the great reviews. How we changed our minds from the minute we arrived. Have you booked with no welcoming smile We got seated, no menus given but asked straight away ‘what do you want to drink’ we hadn’t even had chance to look at the drinks menu, no please or thank you When giving our order to the waitress ( if that’s what you want to call her) we were greeted with a miserable face, every time we chose something from the menu ‘ no haven’t got’ no apology came with each reply. This was at 12.45 so not late into the afternoon 🙈🤔 The platters were abruptly put onto our table and the so called waitress walked away. No enjoy!! Or any other pleasantries offered. No cutlery given and I had to go and ask for napkins, their reply ‘ they should be on the table’ I wouldn’t be asking if they were on the table!! We decided not to stay for coffee and desert. When paying the bill the pleasantries began… everything okay? That’s a nice top, sorry I’ve neglected you but we have been busy!! No excuse if your busy or not, Rudeness is a no no!! We certainly won’t be dining with you again. And to think I was going to bring a few friends on our next lunch outing, I will be choosing another venue. This is a backyard place, literally been made good for a sideline business venture during Covid. A great idea but I would suggest stepping it up a bit to make a more Service based business as it seems to be a bit lacking in Service and not so customer focused. It's a great idea and I hope to see it develop into a more Boutique place rather than a second thought place. It lacks some refinery and knowledge about its aim and could be a great venture and hideaway if its tuned more to its ideal. Tapas is always great but requires some special touches to make it a more personal get-away venue. The prices indicate its a special place but we didnt feel this on our visit. I wish this venue a great future and some refinement. We are from this service background, and know its long term...
