Customer service is disgraceful! I’m no Karen by all means and I also work at a costa drive thru myself so I know what it’s like to be part of the team.. called here today for my birthday morning coffee, a chill out before meeting the rest of my family for lunch. My son, my partner and I was the only people at the counter at that point, I could see the manager Tim was quite annoyed with his staff before he decided to ask us what we would like, I had 2 free drinks and my birthday treat on my costa card so decided I would treat my son and partner using these and buy a coffee and a reusable cup for myself too, I told him I wanted to use my costa card for the 2 drinks and cake and pay separately for the coffee and reusable cup and had a 25% discount card so passed this across to the manager, I understand how it works, there’s also 30% off food but I didn’t want any food apart from my free birthday treat which I would enjoy later as I was going out for dinner, The manager told me I couldn’t have my birthday treat and I had to pay for it as using my discount card and getting 30% off was double discounting it, but I didn’t need to pay for the cake as it was my freebie! this I understood so I asked him again to just use my costa card for the free drinks and the birthday cake and I would pay for the coffee and cup separately, a queue was forming at this point and the manager was getting frustrated as I was “taking too much of his time” and holding every one up! I’d also asked for my cake to put in a take away bag as this was for later on, it was put on a plate. When I asked the manager to put it in a bag he said he didn’t like my attitude, I told him I had come to his store on my birthday to enjoy a nice coffee and chill out and he had just ruined my visit and consequently my birthday morning! he was very rude to both me and my son, I could see he was having a bad day but that wasn’t my fault he hadn’t listened to my requests. I ended up having to pay for a cake and get my free birthday treat which I didn’t want! The hygiene in here needs looking at too, the tables, chairs and the floor need a good clean and Tim needs to train his staff in wearing the right uniform, branded shorts are not brand standard uniform to wear to work! I definitely will NOT be returning to this store! it will be the staff at junction 32 that will gain from me in the future!

Read moreCosta fortune it may, but if you're ok with that, the new Glasshoughton drive-through is worth a go.
Judging by it's popularity, this branch of Costa must be striking gold, given it's unique position and drive-through status. Seating-wise, a lot of thought has obviously been put into selecting a variety of chairs to suit most people, but the tables are ALL rickety. Bizarre and extremely annoying when combined with an over-filled cup. Flood alert! Food is largely over-priced, but that is expected of Costa and it's rival, Starbucks. There is a selection of sandwiches available, on a variety of breads, wraps, etc, and, if you fancy something tasty and hot (who doesn't??), there are also toasties or soup. A meal deal is available which, given the individual prices of items, is pretty good value at £4.50 for a sandwich/pasta bowl/soup, scrummy yummy crunchy crisps, and a small drink. The best aspect of visiting this Costa is the pleasant, accommodating service of it's staff. They are all helpful, friendly and quite lovely. The worst thing (in my not-very-humble opinion) is the one single-sex toilet. A) there is only one toilet, and b), it is same-sex. No likey. At all. Not at all. Nope! There is, however, also an Accessible toilet - for those who NEED it, those who no likey the single sex offering. One more thing.....can't someone PLEASE invent a Barista machine that is QUIET???!!! ...
