On Saturday 16th March myself and two Sisters took our Mother to La Fortezza for a Mothers Day meal. We were told when booking that there were two sittings, 6.00pm and 8.30pm. We chose the earlier sitting as our Mother doesn't like to eat late. We were there on time and shown straight to our table. At 6.50pm we had still not received our starters so we sked a waitress who said few more minutes. At 7.00pm we still not received any food even though one of the starters was only a garlic bread and the other a Bruchetta. It was 7.10pm before 3 out of the 4 starters arrived followed 5 mins later by the Garlic bread. We had just finished our sweets when my sister ordered a drink from the bar as we still had wine to finish. The waitress sent the Manageress over who said they would not serve my Sister with this drink as it was 8.30pm and we had to leave as people were waiting for the table!! We did point out that we hadn't been served until 7.10pm to which she agreed but said we still had to go! After lots of protesting she finally agreed to knock off the bill one bottle of wine. This wasn't offered we had to fight for it plus as we weren't being allowed to finish it I thought it was the least they could do. This spoilt what we wanted to be a special evening for our Mother and we certainly will not be going back. Oh and they haven't even bothered to reply to my e-mail of complaint which to me is bad...
Read moreWe tried here because of the good reviews. But don’t be fooled. We arrived at 5:50 and we got our drinks 15 mins later. We didn’t get our food order taken until 30 minutes later. We got our starters which were actually quite nice. We then waited another 30 minutes (which I know isn’t too bad) for our mains to come, for them to bring out my main but my partners main came wrong. So we sent it back and were told it would only be 4/5 minutes (was just a pizza). About 10 minutes later if not longer I had eaten my main and my partners food still hadn’t come. When his pizza eventually came, it was a sloppy mess. All the toppings (chicken and ham) were everywhere just fell off the pizza onto his plate. I tried a slice and it was awful. When his food did come, there was barely any room on the table. Table was about as big as a 2 pence coin. I had the biggest bowl for about 4 scoops of carbonara. We had a portion of chips. His plate for the pizza was huge, hanging off the edge of table. Surprised the sloppy mess didn’t end up falling on his knee. Service was shocking. When we were waiting for our mains, a waiter came over asking if we wanted to see the pudding menu??? I wasn’t offered Parmesan for my pasta either. We asked for the bill and they were straight over with it, shame they wasn’t so efficient with the food, clearly just wanted the money. Overall just an absolute waste of...
Read moreWe were looking forward to a family meal with my parents from London as La Fortezza had been recommended to us by two local friends. A lovely lady greeted us and showed us to the table we had booked. The restaurant was buzzing and busy. On waiter seemed to be unfamiliar with the small wine list and interrupted to clear the table later when not everyone had finished. The other staff were proficient but inattentive. We ordered water (with the main drinks) and had to ask for it again. If the food had been good, all these niggles would have been forgotten. Unfortunately, the food was unseasoned and bland. The starters: prawn cocktail, ribs, rice all and minestrone soup needed more flavour . The ragu had been recommended by the lady who first greeted us. The tagliatelle was overcooked and the sauce had no wine, seasonings or flavour. I had a pizza with artichoke, olives and ham. I’ve had better from the Co-op! My dad liked his fish but there was too much of it. This meal worked out as £31 per person which is not a cheap meal - our weekly shop!. It was supposed to be a treat and turned out to be an embarrassment. We didn’t complain as no one bothered to ask us how the meal was and no one said goodbye or checked if the meal was ok as we left. We won’t be back. Should have gone to The Fox and...
