We visit here often, and have had Sunday lunch yesterday and previously booked Sunday Lunch for Father’s Day a couple of weeks ago . It was a set menu of 2 or 3 courses, and the standard of every dish was absolutely top notch. We were at Harvey Nichols for Sunday Lunch a couple of weeks ago and this was comparable if not better! The hash brown with black pudding centre, crispy bacon and veloute was absolutely delicious. The roast beef and pork were cooked to perfection, fabulous yorkshire puds and the crispiest crackling ever, and the tastiest roast potatoes we’ve had anywhere. Creamy unctuous cauliflower cheese was the perfect extra side. All piping hot and perfect sized portions. The summer berry eton mess was a perfect end to a fabulous meal. Tasted as good as it looked! Best meal we’ve had in a while, and the friendliest attentive service too from a lovely team. Compliments to the fantastic chef and thank you to the whole team for making our Father’s Day and every time we visit such a success, we’ll be back again very soon!

Cosy and welcoming, staff were super friendly. Food was nice for a gastro pub, portions for burger was generous as it came with a whole host of extras, the risotto was well cooked and nicely balanced. However, some items of note for the 4 stars... This is not an accessible friendly pub. Quite a few awkward steps inside the establishment, uneven and sloping floor (to the extent our table was defiantly not level...), initial scan implied toilets were down stairs (however didn't really explore if there was an accessible toilet on the ground floor). Did expect for a gastro pub to ask how rare diners would like their beef patty (it was super tasty) so it came pinker than desired for the other half. Would be go back? Yes, but one that we would come rushing back to due to the accessibility, so if this isn't an issue for you? Definitely recommended!

The Sunday menu was small but perfectly formed. The food was well presented and cooked well. The staff were very helpful and had definitely been well trained in customer service. The only downside to the Pledwick Inn is the amount of noise in the dining area. This is my third visit and the noise in the dining area is a huge minus to my dining experience. It is so bad I couldn't hear my partner who was sat opposite me. I hope the owners can look into some way to minimise it.

DO NOT BOOK A FUNCTION HERE! If I could give this zero stars I would.

A message for the owner Richard, seen as though he cannot be bothered to respond to my email dated 8/7/25 following our wedding party 5/7/25.

Hi Richard,

We’re writing to express our deep disappointment following our wedding celebration at your venue on Saturday, and to raise serious concerns given the lack of communication from you since.

The experience was a disorganised mess. When we arrived at 4pm as agreed with you to decorate, the chef was already starting to prepare the 35 pizzas, which were going to be brought out at 5pm… our party did not start until 6pm and we had organised with you that same week for them to come out at 7:30pm . Members of the public were sitting on the lower terrace that was supposed to be reserved for us , while the tables inside the tent were dirty and still covered in empty glasses — hardly the welcome we expected for our wedding party and these only got moved/cleaned because we went inside and asked.

More upsetting, however, was the behaviour of your manager. She was extremely rude, dismissive, and made no effort to apologise or reassure us. Instead, she chose to argue with me in front of our guests and your paying customers which was both embarrassing and unprofessional. Her lack of communication skills and empathy was shocking — she acted more like a petulant teenager than someone responsible for running events at what we thought was a respectable venue.

Her attitude completely overshadowed what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives. I was left in tears at my own wedding party, which is something I never imagined saying.

In contrast, we want to highlight Corrie, who was outstanding. She was attentive, empathetic, and did everything in her power to salvage the situation. She is a real credit to your team and should be recognised for her professionalism and compassion.

Unfortunately, the overall experience highlighted serious flaws in your setup: poor internal communication, a lack of preparation, and a general sense of disorganisation. One of your own staff members even told us they didn’t know there was a wedding party scheduled, which made us feel completely overlooked and unimportant.

Just to note from the beginning Richard has been poor at responding to emails and didn’t even show up for our first look around the venue earlier this year. We gave him the benefit of the doubt with this being a new venture but we really wish we wouldn’t have bothered. We would not recommend having any sort of...

An absolute disappointment. I hate to do these types of reviews but when a decent amount of money is being spent you’d expect some level of standard.

I went with my family for a Sunday roast, our expectations were high but unfortunately the food and service was shocking and way below par.

  1. the waiter had no clue as to what he was serving us, three of us were vegetarians and he proceeded to serve a beef pie.. when it was in fact a Yorkshire pudding with onions, followed by him mistaking a falafel starter for another meat dish?

  2. a meatball starter was stone cold.. to which the waiter then questioned “seriously, is it?”. I think the better thing to have done would be to apologise, send the dish back and ask the chef to make a new one. But instead, we got a dish that had been blasted in the microwave and we knew this was the case as the potatoes that came with the meatballs originally, had turned to a dogs dinner.

  3. considering there were 7 of us having a roast dinner, for them to only provide 2 small portions of vegetables to share, of which predominately were garden peas is a joke.

  4. With a roast dinner, if you are paying £14-15 each you’d hope they’d be a nice amount of roast potatoes on the plate. However, each plate had 3 roast potatoes and not to be rude the plate looked empty and we all felt that we had been served a child’s portion.

  5. we even asked a member of staff to provide some more vegetables and potatoes considering we had been starved, but it felt as if I was asking them to donate a kidney. This unfortunately then came 15 mins after we had all stopped eating to which they then had the audacity to still add it onto the bill?

6 ) it was quite clear that the waiter and waitress were embarrassed of what they were serving, as they avoided coming to our table to check up on us as they already knew we were not best of pleased. In addition, they didn’t provide us with any condiments.

All in all, the manager did give 20% discount for our inconvenience but all of this could have been avoided. A roast dinner is meant to be a hearty meal with ample amount of vegetables and meat with a good amount of gravy. But instead, we were met with 7 dishes that could have been combined to...

We ordered food for 6 and one of the kids meals served was incorrect.

What was odd was the adults food came first ( always a bit frustrating).

Businesses take note, send kids first they can't contain their hunger like an adult can and for the under 5s it always needs time to cool before they tuck in.

The chicken goujons incorrectly served were very overcooked, it was poor they even sent them out of the kitchen. Then it took too long to fry the correct fish goujons. Both kids refused the fish ( which is unheard of, my girl could be a fish she eats that much of it). I tried one after I'd eaton my Ceaser salad, which was alright, generous portion with lots of anchovies. What let it fish was unbelievable overdone and greasy croutons. They're fish was really greasy too and slightly dry!

Our sides of French Fries were oversalted. I cannot understand why a chef/ cook in any professional kitchen think it is good practice to salt children's food. Its almost as if the industry doesn't offer training in nutrition and traffic light system. They're bodies cannot process sodium efficently like an adult! So stop salting food and let us manage our own.

Our dirty plates remained on our table for 30 minutes after, I went into the bar to order drinks and 4 staff were all stood chatting in the restaurant. We weren't the only garden table neglected. So eventually we cleared our own table after being dive bombed by the last of the summer wasps.

Redeeming factor, the toilets are really clean, the bar staff are very cheery and polite, the waiting staff are also social( but mainly amongst themeselves). The garden is big and well maintained and it feels safe for families.

I didn't have my phone to take...
