Royal Spice — Restaurant in Wakefield

I was super excited to try Royal Spice after hearing some really great things,

I maybe had too high of expectations and therefore the experience fell short of the level expected. But it was okay

We ordered take out, calling at 530 asking for collection at 630. We actually arrived at 613 and to our surprise it was already bagged and ready to go. Super We thought! However when we got home we had to reheat the majority of the meal as it was only just warm. Had we arrived on time then it would have been completely cold. I thought, they must have not heard me when I said 630 on the call. But looking at the order sheet in the bag it was very clear that they had heard as it was written on the paper.

The food on the other hand, except been too cold was absolutely beautiful! Naan was soft and perfect to dip in the gorgeous tomato based currys. I had the Tandoori Masaka which is veg biryani with a selection of Tandoori meat and I have to say the flavours in the meat were unbelievable, I think next time I will skip the rice and just order from the Tandoori menu as I could eat half a horse prepared and cooked like that.

Overall this has the potential to be the best curry in Wakefield, and maybe eating in the food is served up hot and therefore that's why people rave about it but for take out... order 5 minutes before collection to ensure it is not left on the...

6* FIRST VISIT Came here without a reservation and thankfully they had a table free which is a good thing since just after we arrived it got VERY busy, every table booked. This is without a doubt the best Indian food I've had in years, to say I was impressed is an understatement. The staff were friendly and helpful even though it got very busy. The food,though, was stunning, absolutely faultless, every starter and mains we had was gorgeous. Prices a little over average but worth every penny. This is definitely the best Indian in Wakefield and the best I've had anywhere in years. I'd highly recommend it but make sure to book to avoid disappointment. Third visit went for my birthday, group of 13, booked well in advance. The place is still the best Indian restaurant in Wakefield. Totally shocking. After waiting 2 hours for a takeaway order and unable to contact as phone was off the hook, 2 of our group went to find out where our order was. First they stated someone had called the house when the only person they could contact was stood in front of them phone in hand! Then stated they had Internet issues but had the order there in front of them on Just Eat. They then put the order together only to get this home to find 2 curries missing ALL the naans and chippati also not there. The food was cold and in my own case the chicken was burnt and the sauce had never seen the recipe of a passanda. It turned a family night to a sad hungry end. Goodness knows if any of us will end up with bad stomachs . Shocking and should be closed. I have no idea how this establishment has got 5 star reviews other than low expectations.
