Absolutely amazing place! I rarely go to Blackwood these days but used to daily when my family were in business there; ( nothing to do with coffee) many years ago. Unfortunately Blackwood no longer gets the investment it deserves but you should be super proud of yourselves for creating this gem in the town. The coffee was the best I have ever had and I have had coffee in many places all over the world. The late lovely Robert Barker who had one of his clothing shops nearly opposite your place; I am sure would be proud of you being a self made business man himself; coffee and tea shops included. My family were over from Australia recently and popped in for a coffee or a takeout nearly everyday. They tell me they miss the great coffee they had at Big Dog it is the best they have ever had - and they live near the beautiful ocean with fab places to eat and drink. If that doesn’t tell you how fab you are. 🤗 Next time I visit Australia perhaps you would have opened up a lovely coffee shop there 🤞 I will be a regular customer from now on and will only be buying Big Dog coffee for my moka pot...
Read moreLove this coffee shop 😍 Its so nice to have such a modern, stylish (and clean!) addition to the coffee shops in Blackwood. The owners are passionate about coffee and they roast their own, which really makes a difference. They also put a lot of effort into the local community by providing book swaps and organising walks etc.
One massive selling point for Big Dog is that they are dog friendly; I believe the only dog friendly cafe in Blackwood. They also have baby changing facilities within a spacious and clean WC. High chair is also available for little ones.
If I could make one suggestion for improvement it would be expanding the cafe to include a kitchen area so that more savoury options could be offered as I’m sure the food would be as good as the coffee!
Hopefully this business goes from strength to strength as it’s so nice to have a successful independent business flourishing on the...
Read moreReviewing coffee purchased from website (not the cafe) - I don't often review, but these coffee's are spectacular. I have had the opportunity to try several single origin variants and am very impressed. If you have tried Horsham coffee, they have a similar but less aggressive roasting profile (as in the flavour the roasting imparts) which surprisingly allows the bean flavour to shine through more. I'm not a coffee expert, but a hobbyist, and can confirm, they really know what they are doing here - the choice of bean and roasting techniques are some of the best I've tried across countless roasteries. Give them a go and you won't be disappointed. Roast dates are on the packages and flavour profiles are accurate. I'd go as far as saying these are some of the best beans I've tried from any UK roastery with genuinely different, punchy and interesting flavours. Will be...
