Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Wales

I don’t know what his name was but the gentleman serving today (Sunday afternoon) had a really bad attitude. He was unnecessarily rude when asking us to move seats because they were going to clean the bottom half of the shop. There was a ‘cleaning in progress’ sign on top of a chair in the way of that part of the shop, but you could easily walk past it without moving the chair, and there were people sat in that area and there was no actual cleaning in progress, so we figured it was fine to sit there. We were obviously mistaken but instead of just politely requesting we move (which would have been absolutely fine) he was very rude in his approach. He also barked at us that they were closing from behind the serving area (he was not even visible to us) at 4.45 when in fact the store wasn’t supposed to shut until 5, so we had to leave. We overheard him telling people they weren’t serving anymore 20 minutes before the official scheduled close, not even offering customers a take out option. When we left the shop I said a very undeserved ‘thank you’ as it is in my nature to be polite and he gave no reply and just shut the door behind us. I work in a customer facing role and wouldn’t dream of speaking to customers the way he did. The guy needs some serious lessons in customer service, or, probably the better...

I used to enjoy going here but lately it's been a shambles. Lately, I went in at 5:30pm to order a coffee to then be told "by the way, we're closing at 6pm". And??? I can drink a coffee in less than half an hour! Didn't make me feel particularly welcome, staff wanting to leave dead on closing time is not my problem. Turned up last week to see a scribbled notice on the door saying that they're closing early due to 'poor management and lack of staff'. Whatever the issue is, I found it very unprofessional to publicise their issues like that. Drove there again today to get a coffee only to be told after queuing that they can't serve us and now have to close. What is going on?? Won't be going back there again, need to sort...

I had a large caramel latte which was warm at best. It was already a warm day and within a few minutes of having the drink it was room temperature. Not enjoyable at all. I was seated just on the other side of the coffee making area and noticed how incredibly dusty it was. I was able to draw on the back of the coffee machine, so it seems cleaning is only done to a cursory level within the working area, nothing more.
