I have been here less than a handful of times, once for food to sit in and the other times were takeaway orders. I’ve decided to leave a review as I recently visited, the customer service I received was excellent. Not only did they serve me quickly for my takeaway order but weren’t making me join the sit in line to pay which is not only good common sense but good customer service for customers that takeaway, as the line for the sit in was long and I was only ordering a chocolate Oreo milkshake and a bacon + hash brown bap. My milkshake was very tasty, worth the money in my opinion. My partner ate the bap, he said it was gorgeous and the bread + the bacon were good quality. He said it’s on the pricey side for what you get but it’s worth paying a bit more if the quality is good and he said it was and he wants it again so you’ve won a repeat customer. Not only this but one of the cooks could see I was standing there and asked if I had been seen to, I had ordered a milkshake but decided I wanted the bap as well so it was good he was on the ball. The lady that served me who didn’t wear uniform (perhaps the manager?) who had a Eastern European accent, was very friendly and good at her job. If she was a manager, she was a hands on manager and was well suited to her role. The cook was friendly as well. The place is quite busy and as someone who doesn’t like super busy restaurants where tables are close to each other, I scored down a star for atmosphere but it’s busy because it’s popular so I guess that’s good for their business. When I did go to eat in here I remember it being just above average for the breakfast but better than a typical big breakfast cafe, it depends if you think the prices aren’t too high which is based solely on each persons budget. They do a good milkshake which not many places in Cwmbran do so that’s why I came here, I recommend takeaway service if you don’t like busy restaurants and they serve it quick so you won’t be waiting long. Would score 5/5 but as it’s very busy, the food isn’t the best in the world but it is better than average (for the price to be higher than average). My partner will want another bap and I love the milkshakes so I can’t score...
Read moreAs someone who values comfort above all else while dining out, I have to say that Boswell's Cafe in Cwmbran really hits the spot with its nice, cozy seating area. Although I will admit that the seating may be a little bit on the firm side - something I imagine those looking for a more supportive seat would appreciate - I found it quite comfortable myself. Plus, the atmosphere was just right - relaxed and inviting without being too loud or distracting.
As for the food itself, I have to say that Boswell's really impressed me. The menu had a great variety of options, including plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices. I decided to go with a classic - a hearty bowl of soup and a fresh sandwich - and I was definitely not disappointed. The soup was rich and flavorful, and the sandwich was piled high with fresh and tasty fillings. All in all, a meal that really hit the spot.
In addition to the great food and cozy seating area, I found that the staff at Boswell's Cafe were incredibly friendly and attentive. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and taken care of - a feeling that only grew stronger as I enjoyed my meal. It's always nice to be treated well while dining out, and Boswell's definitely delivers on that front.
All in all, I would highly recommend Boswell's Cafe in Cwmbran to anyone looking for a comfortable and tasty dining experience. With its cozy seating, delicious food, and warm and...
Read moreNot great for vegetarians/vegans. Would suggest not going if you have dietary requirements. Ordered a brie and cranberry panini. It arrived after a long wait and there was ham on the plate. Reported to a member of staff who apologised and took it away to change it. A 2nd member of staff approached our table. He said that the reason it had happened was that there was already ham on the cutting board used and therefore it had stuck to the bread. I said that they should be using differnt boards for meat and non meat products (as per health and safety food hygiene guidelines) and this was not good enough. He stated that his Saturday staff were not as good as his weekday staff and he kept telling them this, but also it was not a legal requirement. When my food arrived a 3rd member of staff gave a voucher for a free coffee and said that I should have told them at the till if I was vegetarian. I said that there were no signs indicating this, but also if a meal is advertised as vegetarian then it should be prepared in such a way. I felt that this cafe did not take responsibility for the cross contamination and first blamed Saturday staff and then blamed the customer. Not classy. Have given 2 stars as they attempted to rectify the issue and those with me said that their meals were nice. I, however, will not be...
