We enjoyed our 2 night stay here although our experience was mixed. We stayed in room 28, which is located at the rear of the hotel with a view of back yards and the railway line. This isn't the hotels fault but if you can, book in advance and get a room with a better view... there are plenty of them. The room was described as a large double. We both think this only refers to the bed size, which looked to be a super king. The room itself was not large although sufficient and very tastefully decorated throughout. The mattress was marvellous... not too soft and yet firm enough to support your back. Very impressive and we want one! The bathroom was well cleaned although there is some evidence of old mould in the shower cabinet (small) that someone has grouted over rather than cleaning out which was a shame. Tea and coffee making facilities were adequate although a bit basic. Oddly, one of our main gripes was the lack of decent WiFi. The hotel does have WiFi and we did manage to connect on the first night but the connection continously dropped and took ages to come online again. We raised the issue twice but no joy. When we mentioned it the 2nd time with reception, we were told "well no-one has mentioned it before." In reality, the WiFi signal is very weak and room 28 is set at the very back of the hotel but all they need to do is add a few boosters around to resolve this. We had to resort to using a mobile hotspot.
The bar, lounge and dining room are all recently and beautifully decorated with some real style. We had 2 lovely breakfasts and the quality of offerings was good. The fruit was fresh, there was a good selection of cereals and the cooked options were very tasty. The croissants were beautiful.
Overall, a very pleasant stay. A 4 star hotel? Difficult to say that but it only loses a star because the room didn't quite match what we expected and lack of WiFi was a pain. The rest of our experience was extremely good and we will be revisiting (a different room.) if we come back...
Read moreOn our second visit to the Caerwylan Hotel, my wife and I spent five nights there. I can report that it is still an amazing place. which is so peaceful and tranquil. As soon as we had walked through the front door for the first time, we both felt thoroughly relaxed and this feeling stayed with us until we left. Our comfortable well furnished room had superb views of the sea and the castle. The housekeeping team are still excellent with the highest standards and our room was kept immaculately clean. ||The whole hotel is run quietly and efficiently, whilst maintaining a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast each morning in the restaurant was again excellent and delivered by lovely team of staff, who are committed to ensuring that you fully enjoy the experience.||The reception staff were very friendy and always made us feel at home. So a big thank you to Abigail, Yvonne and Gwyn. Also a big thank you to Haf, who efficiently took our booking, whilst making it so easy, I also need to extend my big thanks to the ever present Laura, who has many roles and is a great leader especially in the front of house role in the restaurant. Finally big thanks to all the unnamed staff, who made our stay so hugely enjoyable.||This year we had glorious sunny weather and we were able to sit in the hotel's wonderful garden with a glass of wine from the bar. Despite being a poor gardener myself, the lovely flowers and bushes has inspired me to take a better interest in my own garden.||We...
Read moreWe have just returned from our sixth stay in this wonderful hotel and to be honest, there simply aren’t enough superlatives to describe it. From the moment we checked in once again we were treated like old friends returning. We couldn’t have been made more welcome. We stayed in room 26, which is a little more expensive than a standard room, but the view is amazing. What we did at the end of each evening (and I would highly recommend doing this), is to take a glass of our favourite tipple back to your room and sit with the lights off and just look out to sea, we were fortunate enough to have had clear nights where we could see across the Harlech with the castle all lit up. But on previous visits there have been storms where we watched waves crashing into the sea wall, awesome.|Anyway, back to the hotel itself, the lounge area is so relaxing with copious amount of comfy chairs, the bar is always well stocked with all the whiskeys, wines, gins and beers you could wish for, and the restaurant is outstanding, the food is prepared, cooked and served to an extremely high standard. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, in the morning there’s the breakfast. I highly recommend the full Welsh. You will struggle to find better.|Anyway, a massive thanks to Dom, Laura, Lauren and the team for making our stay wonderful again, and we will definitely see you...
