Not a family friendly establishment ! I walked in with my family ( two thirteen year olds) and enquired at the bar if we were free to sit anywhere to eat . I was told that we could indeed sit anywhere . As we chose our table a hostile voice from behind us said " I would be obliged if you would sit at the back if you have two young people with you ! " This came from the owner/landlord/manager !! We reluctantly moved towards the back of the pub and sat in a booth type area. The table was filthy. The menu was sticky and unpleasent to handle . My wife and I felt very uncomfortable after being told to move , and observed another family sit in the same area that we had just been told to vacate. We didn't stay long enough to find out what the food is like or whether the other family were told to move . His pompous, Victorian attitude cost the landlord about £80 . We left and ate elsewhere without spending a penny . (As we walked out I thought I saw a child emerge from the chimney having just swept it !) This is an establishment that needs to move into the 21st century regarding the way families and children are treated . I feel that this is a "children should be seen but not heard "type of place and that they should be moved out of the way . If you're local to the pub, over 65 but younger than 86 ( see other review) and enjoy half a pint a night with twenty fags then this one's for you !!! If you have a young family...

After 4 years of visiting the coastal areas of Porthmadog Criccieth and Abersoch, I popped into Criccieth and decided to explore other parts of this lovely place. In need of a bit of shelter from the change in weather, we found Prince of Wales. Well, after 4 years, why have I never ventured into this fantastic pub before. Whoever ran the bar today, 30th September 24, she is an asset to your pub. Friendly attentive and welcoming as we'd just arrived looking for a snack and, of course, a cheeky beer she made us aware that the kitchen was about to close but said not to rush and gave us the menu. Looking around, people were eating what I would say, home cooked food, and it looked amazing. We decided on tuna mayonnaise baguettes, and they didn't disappoint at all. They came with a side salad crisps and coleslaw. Again, the bar staff was very attentive and couldn't do enough for us and others that are in the pub. The pub is on the corner of the high street, and where we sat looking out of the window, I can see the castle. The bar has two sides with traditional ales and a good selection of largers, beers, and cider. Overall, the food was priced very reasonably the same as the beers. I would definitely recommend visiting this lovely pub if you're looking for good food and drink, so don't wait 4 years like I have go on pop in and say hello, ypu won't be disappointed. Thank you to the staff on the day we visited Tess she...

We visited The Prince of Wales pub in Criccieth for an evening meal and had a really pleasant experience. On arrival, we were welcomed warmly while ordering drinks and enjoyed the cosy, traditional feel of the pub. The menu had a good variety of dishes available and this was also complemented by a specials menu.

After a short wait, a member of the friendly team took our food order at the bar, though we did notice table service was also available. Not long after, our meals arrived.

We chose the steak and ale pie, which was a classic pot pie served in a ceramic dish with a flaky pastry top, chips, peas, and some extra gravy on the side. It was generously filled with tender beef and was good.

Our other dish was a chicken tikka masala, which came out slightly later than the pie, but the delay was well communicated by the team. The waitress was excellent, explaining the situation and ensuring the dish was brought out promptly once ready. The curry itself was delicious, served with half chips and half rice, the best way in our opinion.

Overall, it was a lovely meal made even better by the service. The waitress who looked after us (sorry, we didn’t catch her name) was a real standout, attentive, friendly, and exactly the kind of person you’d want on your team. We will definitely return when next...

Staying in Hafan Y Mor caravan site and was recommended to come here. After visiting here yesterday now I know why, the service right from the start was amazing, even offered our dog a bowl of water and made us all feel so welcome. The food was outstanding, we’ve been many holidays in our touring caravan and this place is right up there as one of our favourites ever. Even the lovely touch with the chef bringing out our food was really nice. We had the chicken burger, scampi and prince burger, top marks for food, everything was first class and the chips are something else too, best food overall we’ve had. Going to miss this place when we go back home to Scotland. Thanks so much for a memorable visit. Can’t recommend this place enough 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
