We stayed at this lovely hotel for a weekend while we were visiting North Wales. Zoe, who checked-in us was very kind and helpful throughout our stay. We were located in Beaumaris room which had stunning looks and overlooked the Criccieth Castle. The hotel has a pub and a restaurant with amazing food and drink options. We were served full Welsh breakfast with both cold and hot breakfast options. There is an Indian restaurant about a minute walk from the hotel. A minor comment about the Beaumaris room is that, as some other review already mentioned, the green light from the alarm in the bedroom creates a ghost like image on the bedroom door. So don’t freak out if you notice a green ghost in the room. We are definitely going back to this hotel next year and would definitely recommend it.

Large imposing hotel set in the town with views overlooking Criccieth.Spent two nights there, couldn't ask for anything better. It has a carpark at the rear of the hotel which is a great start. We had a nice big bed room with views looking out towards the sea and the castle. The breakfast was served in the restaurant and was spot on .The service was excellent, special thanks to Robert. The bar is only serving drinks to guests of the hotel at the moment which in a way is good.Criccieth is in a good tourist spot with a great beach.Ideal for long walks. It sits on the coast halfway between porthmadog and Abersoch.

My husband and I had a lovely time at The Lion Hotel on our honeymoon! The hotel was clean and charming, and our room had all the amenities needed for a comfortable visit. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Alex who went above and beyond for us during our stay. Alice and Dave were also incredibly welcoming, answering all of our questions on our first trip to Wales. The full breakfast was a great value for the wide selection, and the dinner menu is amazing; the lamb curry is a must-try. Thank you all for your hospitality and we hope to be back again soon!

My parents, my little sister and I came to visit my grandparents who live just around the corner from 'Lion Hotel'

They decided that we come in for some food, my grandad had a stroke few years ago and can only walk a few yards before needed to sit down, he has to use an electric scooter to get about, my little sister has had her knee operated on which meant she was using a wheelchair to get about. Anyway..... whe we arrived we had some where to leave the scooter and wheelchair which was good as they are big things and would get in the way. We was greeted by a lovely lady who arranged our table (8 of us in total, our auntie and uncle who live close came along) she ordered our drinks straight away, the drinks came out very quickly, 5 minutes later she took our food orders.

Did not have to wait long until we received what we ordered, I went for the plain simple fish and chips and wow I was very impressed, I like a good thick cut house chip and I had a large plate full, the fish was beautiful a very generous portion and nothing but positive coming from all of my family members, all plates were near enough empty, except for mine.....I couldn't finish the whole plate, but I would defo have it again.

Next came the dessert menus, the lady came cleared away the tables and took our orders, drinks also. Gotta have another glass I suppose. The dessert came and I went for the bake well tart with ice cream, absolutely beautiful, my sister sat next to me she went for the chocolate fudge pudding, I had to try a small piece it looked so yummy and it was.

We had finished our meals and were very pleased with the service, we slowly finished off our drinks, we were all taking, catching up on old times....as you do as a family, we do not do this all the time you see.

The music was on in the background, it was very much our kind of style, would definitely be visiting again soon. We live in south east in Kent. Will be looking to come back in the summer. Deserved a tip for a great service. :) thank you to the staff...

This was so so disappointing. I had read the reviews and booked to stay at the Lion Hotel as a stay over for a joint occasion, a wedding my wife and I were attending, and our anniversary as well. Good points. Let me start by saying that the location is wonderful. Five minutes from the local beach. The castle on the hill is imposing and well worth a look. The apartment room was beautiful. Clean with a stunning view of the castle.. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was bery good.

Now the bad news 😳 The Lion is advertised with a restaurant. Well, it doesn't have one, at least, one that's open for evening meals, only breakfast. This is a shame, because this could be a gold mine. The bar was the alternative, which for an anniversary dinner was poor . It was a standard pub bar room. Nothing special. I had specifically stressed it was an anniversary occasion and was assured of a lovely seating area. As previously stated, it was just a bar table! My Wife ordered vegetarian pie. But to our surprise, they were out of veg pie. Why? We were the only ones eating at the bar at 6.30pm, they couldn't have sold out? Why advertise something you don't stock. We ordered starters, I ordered chicken goujons. These came very quickly and were lovely. My wife ordered Tomato & Basil Bruschetta. They brought her Tempura Prawns instead.....

Nearly finished. The shower was lovely and clean, and the shower itself was powerful. What's more, it had a soap dispenser which was on the shower cubicle wall was broken. At first i tbight it wa empty.

Its a real shame that the Lion Hotel didn't live up to...

Lovely place to stay! We had a room which was next to an outside terrace which really added to our experience, the weather was beautiful and we managed to play board games and soak up the sun in the lovely weather. Room was lovely and spacious with a cosy nostalgic feel to it. Cleanliness could have been better as it was quite dusty but we was content with everything overall. The blonde girl who managed the desk (seemed to be the manager) wasn’t the friendliest of people, didn’t seem very approachable, didn’t go the extra mile to have conversation unless spoken to and didn’t smile much. Although she helped when we asked for certain things and accommodated our needs, her customer service skills could have been much better. It really goes a long way and plays a huge part on someone’s stay. One of the housekeepers on another hand (woman with dark hair) was super friendly, engaged in genuine conversation and seemed interested in our stay, asked how our holiday was going and if everything was okay. She couldn’t do enough and brought us a fan and some cold water up to our room when we arrived due to the hot weather. She also offered to help us with our heavy suitcases. Breakfast was nice, there was a lovely lady who accommodated us near the window table and set our table up, she was very helpful and friendly. Nice buffet breakfast with a nice variety to chose from. The hotel itself was lovely and we loved how the room walkways were laid out as it was like a maze and had character! Very homely! Housekeepers definitely stood out to us! Friendly down to earth and...
