Rude and bullying owner. Avoid.
We didn’t even get to try the food as we had a very embarrassing experience and left. By far the rudest and most aggressive owner/manager we’ve ever encountered.
If you care about customer service and the working environment of the staff, I would suggest you don’t visit here.
After queueing outside we had a chat with the waitress, who was friendly and helpful. We needed to sit on the terrace as we had our small dog with us. As there wasn’t a table available on the terrace my wife asked if we could wait inside. The waitress said that was fine and that we could sit in the corner.
We followed the waitress into the restaurant where the owner then stopped us and started aggressively questioning why we felt we could just come inside and sit down. I explained that the waitress brought us inside and he called me a liar! Keep in mind all this was happening in a busy restaurant. So embarrassing.
He said that the waitress did not agree to us waiting inside (she absolutely did). I asked the waitress why she wasn’t explaining what had happened to the owner. She was clearly wary of him (rightly so!) and reversed her story, saying that she didn’t say anything. Remember, we only came inside as she said it was fine and let us in! It was all so bizarre, but we didn’t blame the waitress. There’s clearly a culture of fear where the poor staff not only have to manage their busy jobs, but also have to manage a bullying and aggressive owner/manager.
The owner came around from the bar and started shouting at my wife, asking her why she’d want to sit at a table that hadn’t been cleaned, and that she had to give them a chance. So embarrassing and unnecessary.
I would suggest you read the reviews on here and trip advisor. You’ll see many reviews like this, and having encountered the behaviours ourselves, we can we’ll believe they...
Read moreOrdered food and drinks for two adults. Asked if I could buy my daughter (who's just started eating solids) a slice of toast with some butter on and was told it wasn't possible because there is not enough room in the kitchen?! How on earth did my husband manage to get a TOASTED teacake then? We'd have preferred a simple no, this isn't something we do rather than this absolute load of rubbish excuse, when we are sat in plain view of a rather empty kitchen with a toaster in the corner. To make the already bad taste worse, the highchair strap wasn't fully adjustable meaning baby girl kept slipping out of it and we ended up having to hold her in shifts. Then the same unpleasant grey haired man that required a bigger kitchen to make toast came over and asked if we were finished with the highchair only to put it back into storage. Power move maybe? Who knows, just all very odd. Such a shame because if baby could have eaten and could sit in an adequate seat we would have likely stayed for a second drink as otherwise it has pretty views and the food was okay. Bit small though and I wouldn't recommend...
Read moreBad Attitude to single people!! Asked if I could sit outside. He said he would check. He said no, when I requested a little corner table that was free I was shunted to tiny table half in an old fire place too near to other customers. I tried to sit but found it awkward. Then people outside left so I said I was going outside to which they sent a largish male waiter who deliberately blocked my way and tried to say he wa ted my order before I could even look at the menu. He was overbearing too close and said they needed the outside table for three people but I could only see 2 seats at that table. I tried to look but the waiter stood in my way. He said he wanted my order so I asked if he could give me couple of minutes. I tried to sit again but now felt uncomfortable with the way I was being threat and that they were only interested in profit not service. They need to treat all their customers with respect not just the ones they think cash cows. In the end I had no choice but to walk out because of how I was made to feel. Singletons enter at your peril. I was unserved & it ruined my...
