Had a very disappointing experience Sunday 30th August at 8pm . Been going here for years and its always been first class. However on this ocassion we were squeezed onto a tiny table in the bar. We were sat VERY close to a rowdy table of 4 who were swearing and being generally very loud. Our meal (Surf & Turf @ £25.99) took over an hour to arrive. We were moved to a larger table once it came because it was pretty obvious ithe table was too small. Then despite it being extremely well presented and much anticipated, my steak was cold and full of fat and gristle, as was my husbands. We spent a lot of time chewing and taking the fat out of our mouths to put on the plate. I had to take large 'hair' out of 3 of the muscles, which is never pleasant! We plowed on regardless because we were starving. My husband would not let me make a fuss about it, he just wanted to get it over with. On top of that there was a LOT of sedement in my glass of Red wine. My husband decided to order desert (unusual for us because the meals there are usually so satisfying) Hot Fudge cake. After 40 mins the barmen came to inform us there was none! So hubs said oh ( we looked at each other and just shrugged), so he said well we've sat here this long so I'll have Sticky Toffee Pudding with ice cream. Then jokingly said " we'll see the chef run out to the shop now!" And lo and behold thsts exactly what we did see; returning about 10 minutes later with a carrier bag of goods!! Another 20 minutes later the pudding arrived. It was a nice pudding. But could not detract from our awful evening in one of our favourite places in Tenby. 2 staff were manning the bar taking orders, collecting glasses AND serving the meals. Fair play to them they were rushed off their feet; which is the ONLY reason my husband didn't want to complain to them. We most likely wont go back until some calm is restored after covid is more understood!!...
Read moreWe called in here for drinks on our way to a gig at the De Valance Pavillion. Others had the same idea so it was very busy but there was only one person serving behind the bar. The other member of staff disappeared to the bar in the restaurant as soon as we arrived. Obviously not their fault but, as there was a sold out gig in the Pavillion, the management should have planned ahead & got in extra staff. Several customers were served in front of us which was a bit irritating. As it's such an old building it's small and, whilst it's very atmosoheric & cosy, it did get a bit claustraphobic & stuffy with so many people in there on a very hot day. We managed to get a table between the door & the bar but it wasn't very relaxing with other customers squeezing past. There is an outside area at the back of the pub but that was also packed. Nice clean loos but both the cubicles are really small (one is tiny!) so not very accessible for customers with mobility problems & there didn't seem to be a disabled loo in the place. We got the impression that the pub focuses on the restaurant side of the business & doesn't encourage customers who just want to...

I’ve been visiting Tenby for nearly 50 years and had never stepped foot in this pub before, that being the case I’m now kicking myself as this is by far the best meal I have ever eaten in Tenby in all the years I have been coming here.
We had a green Thai curry and cod and chips. The portions are huge and full of high quality produce; The fish was so big it had to be broken in half to fit on the plate! Unfortunately I couldn’t finish it all which was disappointing as it was so tasty. The green Thai curry was also amazing…
Staff are very friendly and there is a nice warm and cosy atmosphere. Everyone looked like they were impressed with their meals..
My only regret is that I have missed going in this place for many many...
