Let's rate the whole experience: Staff lovely and nice people like you would find in most good restaurants 4.3/5
On to the food, we had Tap and tans mixed board which had chicken, brisket, pulled pork, brisket mac and cheese, gravy, slaw, picks, corn on the cob and fries.
Chicken: 2/5 was rather dry and not much flavour the only thing that saved it was the gravy.
Brisket: 2/5 again rather dry not much juice and they also cut with the grain not against which made it too stringy and lost its juices
Pulled pork: 2/5 again dry not much sauce of flavouring with it
Brisket mac and cheese: 1.7/5 unfortunately it was one of those ones which tasts more like milk and pasta then cheese, you could barly call it brisket mac and cheese with the slither that was in it.
Corn on cob: was good but nothing outstanding 3.7/5
Best to put these 3 in the same area gravy, slaw and picks all rather good and helped the meal out a lot 4.3/5 some of the best parts and luckily gravy save the meal from how dry it was.
Fries: 4/5 rather good and enjoyable, they had a good level of crist on the outside and light and fluffy in the middle which is what most look for
Unfortunately because the main thing you come for here is the meet it was lacking quite a bit on seasoning sauce and juiciness for that reason I could only give it a 2.5/5 very average, if not bellow and the price for what you get is about double some exceptional smoke houses I have been to. Overall I wouldn't recomend that much, but it might be worth a try for some people as they do have a selection of brewed beers. I just didn't get to that as I don't drink so no review for the alcohol.
I would like to see big improvement made on the food
Thanks for...
Read moreWent here on Wed 28th July after all the rave reviews. Beer is amazing. Service and food was disappointing, leaving me wanting more vs. the expectations set.
Opens at 5pm, we arrived at 5:30pm and got a table. Drinks order taken and served quickly (thanks to the young lad who was doing a great job for all the drinks).
Food doesn’t start until 6pm so inevitably you have a queue of 20 people at 6pm trying to order food - I was the 8th person to order. By the time I get to the counter I was told there will be a 45 min wait for food. It took 60 mins to arrive at the table. No apologies when food arrived and not even asked if we wanted any sauces, so had to locate the barman and ask him.
Menu is exciting but food doesn’t live up to the standards and prices - we ordered a pork burrito with dirty fries upgrade and crab mac & cheese only to be told they’ve ran out of mac and cheese (after 7 orders?). They have been closed for two days but open without stock…We ended up ordering two burritos which had no taste - just meat and rice but no flavour (advertised as slow cooked pork). The dirty fries were basic fries with some spring onions and mayo but again didn’t taste of much at all - I don’t think they warrant the ‘dirty’ advertisement at all.
We arrived at 5:30pm and left at 7:45pm having had two beers each and a main.
To sum up the beer is out of this world but we were really disappointed overall - I feel they are trying too hard or out of their element with food - having a menu they cannot fulfil (in...
Read moreWe had a look on Google for a bar to start the evening in this wonderful town of Tenby. There isn’t much beyond here for a drink or food and the rating is very good. We walked past it to start with as it’s set back from the road but once inside it had a really good feel about it. However, this is not a pub. It is a restaurant with craft beer bar and an expensive one at that. The beer is supplied in continental sizes too but not in centilitres as you would expect but as a third or two thirds of a pint. Having said that, it was very busy and while we enjoyed a strong continental type beer or two we noticed the wonderful meals that were emerging from the busy grill kitchen! We grabbed a menu, picked a table that had now become available and placed an order at the kitchen. It isn’t cheap but, there’s plenty of it and it’s very tasty. The accompanying salads and slaw are fresh and tasty. The sauces pull all the food together to make this a very enjoyable experience. This is a popular restaurant and is frequented by young families with loud, sugar infused children at certain times although it does lessen as the evening grows and becomes more of an adults place....
