What a fantastic place to eat - a real surpise in a small seaside town. We visited Criccieth for a last minute anniversary weekend getaway and had been looking for a place to get our tastebuds on some good quality asian food. Somewhere a little more special than a take away or run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant. Honestly, we were unsure if we'd find it - after all we were in a small town that was 'outside of season' so many places simply weren't open. Fortunately, in Mei's Fusion Food we found exactly what we were looking for. After a warm welcome inside from the absolutely terrible weather, the owner and her associate sat us down and made sure we were comfortable. We hadn't booked, and the place was quite busy, but we were still made to feel perfectly welcome and were analysing the menu in no time. The list of available dishes is a sensibly eclectic mix of asian cuisine that breaks the mould (in a good way) of even more well-known restaurants in bigger cities. On first read, we had many dishes to our taste to choose from, inclusing Vegetarian-friendly and a range of spice levels, so that even the most conservative diner would be satiated. We chose the two Claypot dishes as our mains (Tau Eu Bak / Mabo Tofu) and had a side of salt & pepper frog's legs alongside (see photos). There's simply no other way to describe them than Delicious. Well presented, tasty, served in good-but-not-overpowering portions and with a fantastic balance of ingredients in each dish. Kudos to the chef - she is doing a Stellar job. The owner and her staff were absolutely lovely and made sure we were happy throughout, without the lingering uncomfortable feeling you get in some places. Overall, the exceptional food, good vibes and friendly staff made for two very happy travellers, who will undoubtedly be paying a visit again if we are in the area - we strongly suggest you do to.

I have never eaten fried rice that doesn’t look or taste fried. Fried rice should be dry and ā€œhouse specialā€ generally means just an assortment of different ingredients. I think the chef at this takeaway took cooking tips from Jamie Oliver. Their fried rice (house special) was WET. Now some people might interpret ā€œhouse specialā€ as fried rice covered in sauce. I beg to differ though… no one wants to eat soggy fried rice. Plus ā€œhouse specialā€ sauce had no flavour to it. Also the menu says this is supposed to be a ā€œlargeā€ portion but realistically it’s just a normal portion. The Chicken chow mein was also had a burnt aroma. This isn’t the infamous ā€œwok heyā€ (the smokey taste takeaway you cannot replicate at home) it’s more like they used burnt used oil in the wok (plus some wok hey). The taste is overbearing and I could not taste anything but burnt smoke. Their Hong Kong style sweet and sour pork was such a small portion and the veg and pineapple didn’t have any taste. I was expecting something a little sweet (especially the pineapple but it tasted bland). The teriyaki beef was like eating beef jerky in super sweet sauce. It was nice I guess but I was absolutely starving and there was nowhere near enough. The saving grace was the prawn toast AND the fact they turned it around in 15 mins and the lady on the phone was friendly. All for a princely price of Ā£37. I am sorry for the snotty review but this is what happens when I’m hungry, fam is also hungry and no one wants to finish the chow mein or the rice. I took a punt and lost hence the savage review.

China palace is the best Chinese takeaway I’ve had, the salt and pepper munchy box was great and too much food for two people, I travel to use this Chinese as it’s better than my town! If you haven’t given it a try please do you won’t be disappointed!

Been this place many times and always enjoyed. Arrived last night without a booking at 8.40 and asked if a table for 2 was available. Waitress replied yes and took us to a table. Whilst handing menus waitress asked if we could only have one coarse as the kitchen closed at 9.00pm. Taken back a little i found my self saying ok. We glanced at the extensive menu but as we had eaten here many times we ordered within 2 minutes accepting to have a mixed starter and a Thai curry at the same time strangely worrying about the kitchen closing. Food arrived promptly a couple of mins apart. By 9.20 we had left paying in Ā£44.65 ... As it was in fact a 10th anniversary meal felt a little disappointed and did actually say before leaving that it maybe an idea to stop taking orders at 8.00 if the kitchen is not willing to prepare food after 9.00pm, this is based on an estimation of having 3 courses over a 90 minute period so you will actually be able to order desert if required. We don’t blame the service waitress as she did state the policy of ā€œonly having one coarseā€ is the...
