The Monmouth Hidden Gem You’ll Wish You’d Found Sooner 👀 ✨ In the heart of Monmouth sits @creates_monmouth - part boutique hotel, part bistro, part gallery of creativity. Since 2020, it’s been lovingly transformed by Kenny & Ben (yes, the Channel 4 Four in a Bed winners 👏). Step inside and you’ll spot Ben’s @benjohnprice genius everywhere - from the cosy boutique-style rooms, to his jaw-dropping seasonal felt displays (that fox outside? Unreal 🦊), to the bespoke lamps he’s crafted for celebs like P!nk Alison Hammond and David Attenborough. It’s that perfect mix of comfort and creativity. 💡 And then there’s Russell, @feastandforno_ the head chef with a passion for the Mediterranean. His menu takes you from Greece to Italy without even leaving Monmouth - gyros, arancini, lamb kleftiko, tiramisu… all gluten free (but you’d never guess), best of all? It was all DIVINE! 🤤 Here’s what we tried 👇 🍤 Crab Arancini Golden, crisp, filled with rich crabby goodness. Crunch outside, creamy indulgence inside. 🍅 Caprese Salad Fresh mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, fragrant basil. Simple, but perfectly executed. 🐟 Beer-Battered Monkfish Scampi Light, crisp batter with delicate monkfish. A clever, elevated twist on a classic. I could’ve eaten that batter all day it was so gorgeous. 🍗 Chicken Gyros Juicy, spiced chicken, warm pita, garlicky tzatziki. A proper flavour hug. 🍰 Tiramisu Layers of mascarpone, coffee-soaked sponge, and cocoa. Light yet indulgent - one of the best. ✨ Creates is more than a place to eat - it’s a destination. With boutique rooms, stunning interiors, and a menu full of passion, it’s a true Monmouth gem. Thank you Russell, Ben & Kenny for having us, and we will HAVE to come back and try your roast or a brunch sometime 😉 ad | invite

Boutique style bed and breakfast well located in Monmouth's town centre, and a former winner on Channel 4's 'Four In A Bed' programme. There is a reasonably sized car park to the rear of the accomodation. Overnight parking is free, but you would need to renew your parking for 8am the following morning (this can be done on a parking app if required). We received a warm welcome on arrival. You need to be aware that some of the rooms are situated upstairs and there is no lift on site. We stayed in the Hares Warren room, on the second floor, which overlooks a road with shops and a theatre. Unfortunately there was quite a lot of noise ongoing outside which lasted into small hours as two pubs are located just around the corner. Coupled with this, the floorboards in the corridors and stairs of the accomodation were pretty creaky throughout the night. If you're a light sleeper like myself the aforementioned isn't ideal; on the other hand my partner who will sleep through anything had an undisturbed sleep. The accomodation is accessed through the rear of the building. Directly opposite this is an Indian takeaway and a piri-piri chicken shack - there is a sign in your room saying that if anything is stained by takeaway food and has to be replaced, then the owners will take steps for re-imbursement. You have been warned! Creates offers a relatively standard lunchtime/evening menu (although we opted to eat out) and breakfast was included in the room cost. The dining area is well decorated and thought-out. Monmouth itself is a lovely place to wander around and stay or to use as a base, and has a wide range of independent shops, drinking and eating establishments.

Visited on a Saturday and unfortunately had a very poor experience. Firstly what we liked was the decor of the cafe, very cool vibe and the team offered a friendly welcome. We only wanted a bite to eat so we quickly ordered 2 stabdard baguettes. A table of 4 ladies who the waitress clearly knew arrived a few minutes after us. After around 20 minutes the ladies got their order, a few of their meals were special orders due to allergies so they had to take one meal back as it wasn't quite right. Anyway, another 15 minutes and the waitress finally came to apologies that it was taking so long and it would be 10 mins. We waited another 15 before complaining. After another 10 minutes the food actually came, they were kind enough to offer a free round of drinks after we raised our complaint however 1 hour for 2 baguettes is simply unacceptable. The food was very good, the artisan bread is amazing and the crisps are pipers so again quite a good crisp. Hopefully this was just a bad day for the team and not recurring issue, the fact the waitresses didn't really know how the deal with the situation suggests that it's a rare occasion.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night in the room named "Owl's Roost" before setting off on the Offa's Dyke trail. We were very impressed with the hospitality of the staff in particular and are not surprised at all to know that they won 4 in a Bed. Overall 5 stars just because the staff were fantastic, although there were a few downsides to the room that I'll list here in case they are dealbreakers for anyone.||||---||||Room Itself:||||Each of the 8 rooms have a different woodland animal theme and are styled different. This review is for the Owl's Roost, which was a double bedroom.||||+ A comfy and good sized room, particularly the restroom was a good size||+ The decor was very cute and kitsch. We definitely enjoyed it.||+ The bed and pillows were decently comfy||+ You get provided with fresh towels, slippers, eye mask, and earplugs||+ Shampoo, conditioner, and shower/bath gel provided||+ Both bath and shower were available||+ A beauty skylight above the bed||+ Complementary teas/coffees to make in room with a kettle||||- There was spotty reception for the TV, the signal was not great and kept jittering. The TV was effectively unusable||- Walls are pretty thin, earplugs definitely useful||||The above 2 minuses aren't actually that big of a deal for us, the only thing that did actually concern us was that the room itself had no window or anything besides the skylight. They did provide us with a fan, but even with the fan ya'll it got HOT in there. We didn't really have an option to have fresh air and there was no AC or anything to simulate airflow. At the end, unfortunately neither of us had a great night's sleep.||||We still would definitely come back again just because of the service, but hindsight being 20/20 we would avoid the Owl''s Roost and go for a room that had a window that can open to get some airflow in. We told our host this and said that we'll probably have to skip breakfast because we are leaving before the kitchen opens.
