Food is generally amazing bar the fries.
The beef is quality in both taste & flavour the oil used is perfect for the meat. The hotdog is very tasty I expected something like Jolliebees hotdogs which tasted like gone off corned beef but no I was pleasantly surprised. Cheese slices were sensational you could really taste the creamy cheese with the burger Iāve never had cheese that good at least in a long time.
My only negative is the fries partly because they tasted great & are fresh. While I can understand the āboardwalkā style is something Five Guys does I was pretty surprised by the fact you couldnāt choose regular fries with all the skin off. For me the taste of skin on wasnāt bad but itās far better without & the parts of the fries that had no skin were delicious & some of the best so you can imagine my annoyance at how you have one of the tastiest & softest fries out there & one simple decision has effectively limited or cut off a portion of your customers. Itās made more difficult by the fact five guys only does beef burgers, hot dogs & some grilled cheese or veggie burgers all of which arenāt really substitutes for regular skin off fries. Thatās my only gripe & itās a semi big negative because of how good the fries are if the fries were awful it wouldnāt have even been a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHaven't had a five guys burger since I was last in the USA. That said I went in quietly hesitant that this would be another British attempt to replicate an American staple (see taco bell) which fell short of the "brand name only" nature of most American diners here.
Needless to say I was not dissapointed. The burgers were fresh and huge,. They were cooked perfectly and tasted sublime. This was as good as their native counterparts in the US.
The service was stunning, just like America,. And the portions were massive and tasty.
The prices may be daunting at first but believe me the size alone justifies paying it. You get 10x as much burger as you do at McDonald's,. For not much more in price. The menu is simple.. small or big burger,. With or without bacon, and toppings are free. Fries, not al or Cajun,. And then a select either a soft drink or a stunning milkshake. Simple as that.
Well worth it. Will definitely be returning.
Note to peanut and nut allergy sufferers. All of their fried stuff is cooked in peanut oil,. So probably not the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally nice five guys restaurant which is located on a really good strip. Newport road is in the heart of Cardiff and has a range of fantastic shops and restaurants. It had a good service here where staff were helpful and you could see that they were very hard working. It was very quiet on Sunday evening around 6.00 o'clock when I visited. The food was prepared and handed to us in a good time which meant we weren't waiting long. The food was incredible as usual. The drinks machine and condiment area are to the right of the store and the toilets through the doors to the left of the store. The floor was a little slippery however that's the same in the other two five guys I have ever been to. Please be mindful of this especially going to the bathroom. The store accepted cards and cash. The car park was medium sized to the left of the building. The atmosphere was very quiet but that was due to it being not very busy during the time of visit. Overall it was a pleasant visit, good store, nice staff, good service and great...
