This restaurant is truly excellent! It is a little gem nestled in Chepstow. The food is top notch.

We have been twice and had a range of different things on the menu. The dim sum and starters all are delicious- the salt and pepper tofu, sate 'chicken' skewers and tempura oyster mushrooms are a particular highlight.

The mains are all large portions and really tasty, with a wide range of options. The sushi was delicious and amazing as for most of it you would not tell there was no fish.

Although all plant based (except some dishes which do have egg but are clearly labelled) I think all diners, including meat eaters, will enjoy this place. It is so delicious that you end up enjoying the food and not thinking about the ingredients.

They have an extensive saki menu and there is mochi for dessert.

We went as a group of four and came out absolutely stuffed (even taking some away in takeaway containers) for £94. Finding a place that has the high quality food and the quantity for £23.50 a head is amazing!

We love this place and will be going...

Food For Thought. What an absolutely amazing restaurant. My wife and I have eaten there several times, and will be returning on many more occasions. The owners have done everything right. Highly professional, and yet warm and welcoming. As vegetarians we have been waiting a long time for such a delightful restaurant to open. The menu is outstanding! It is a gastronomical feast of superbly presented food, not only for vegetarians and vegans, but for meat eaters too. The way that the plant based meals are produced, visually, texture, and taste, I am sure that every categories can be catered for as the fish and meat substitutions are amazingly convincing. Do not take my word for it, try Hikari for yourself. I am sure that you will be very pleasantly surprised and certainly not disappointed. If the incredible choice of food is overwhelming, fear not, as the staff are always on hand to advise and ease the selection process, thus enabling you to sit back and thoroughly enjoy your culinary experience. Well...

We've been meaning to eat at this restaurant since we first saw it had opened and finally had an opportunity on a weekday lunchtime as a walk-in. We arrived about 15 minutes after they opened and we were quickly shown to our table.

The menu is all vegetarian and also has lots of clearly marked vegan choices (minor point that the sign outside the restaurant needs updating) - this is why we wanted to visit as we are vegan.

We picked veggie tempura bento boxes and on the side salt & pepper oyster mushrooms. We didn't have to wait long and - wow - did these look impressive! The mushrooms arrived first and they were amazing - the ratio of salt and pepper was spot on. The tempura in the bento boxes, and also the gyoza & spring rolls, were really well cooked and super tasty - on a par with almost all the tempura I've had in Japan!

The service was great and we felt really valued. I highly recommend Hikari and look forward to going back...

Phenomenal food, best sushi I have ever had and everything such a great choice on the menu. I’m vegan and this place was truly paradise! The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. We had a selection of appetisers, sushi, main and pudding and there were no low points everything was either exceptionally excellent or the best I’ve ever had by a long way! Don’t miss out on the dim sum specialty (just ask), the shroom katsu, and the vegan sushi 🍣 selection the vegan version of salmon is incomparable! I can’t wait to return! We booked this for our 3 year anniversary ❤️ and honestly it was so so special! Beautiful restaurant. You must go! 🌸

A simply great restaurant in Chepstow town centre. There's an extensive menu of favourite dishes from across Asia which may seem a bit daunting at first, but the waitress was really helpful with recommendations. The food has fabulous zingy flavours and textures, all really tasty and fresh. Nicely sized portions which were all presented really well. It's unbelievable that all the food is either vegetarian or vegan, but this shouldn't put off meat eaters. There's definitely something for everyone and well worth a visit. The service was first class and friendly. I'm looking forward to going back to work my way further through the menu!
