Used this restaurant during covid 19 lock down, and used a takeaway service they are offering. This is obviously a popular place, as getting through on the phone took 3 attempts. Placed my order and agreed a 730pm pick up. This ran over a bit, but things are not normal so no problem there. Just 10 minutes. Staff were libely about it and kept me informed when my order was coming.
All the food, with the exception of two small sauce pots were paper, and cutlery wood. Very well thought out containers, and high quality, the food travelled well.
Having paid restaurant prices was hoping for a good meal and wasn't disappointed. The mussels were cooked in a creamy sauce with subtle tarragen flavour, very delicious, equal to any in France, if not superior. Rosemary fries were tasty and with skins in. Just how I like them, just maybe slightly over salted.
My wife's meal was griller gower chicken supreme. I tried a bit of the hickey and this was very tasty with the truffle mayonnaise. (One of the plastic pots). Again this travelled well and looked nice on our plate.
Desert was chocolate mouse. It should have a brownie with it but I am gluten intolerant so they gave me moise without the brownie and added strawnberries. This was delicious, creamy with intense chocolate, just as it should be. My wife had the lemon drissle cake with meringue. The meringue was older cooked for her liking and she described it as powdery. She said my lemon drissle was better than the cake, and this desert didn't get finished. This was the only disappointment with the meal.
Overall a great experience. Would go again but the lemon drissle is something we would...
Read moreWent as a group a few days before Christmas and was disappointed to find out that 2 of the mains from a small list weren’t available.
You can tell the food quality is decent, and the ambition of the menu is there but overall the quality was not where it should be for the price point.
Steak tartare, meat wasn’t the most tender and lacked overall seasoning and/or a dressing to tie it all together.
Quail was nice, but it astonished me how a dryish meat by nature, did not come with a sauce of any kind.
My wife had beef croquette (singular despite the menu saying plural) which was ok, more beef would have been better.
For main she had a pasta dish which was tiny and more than 2x the price of countless better places in London - hard to fathom a vege pasta dish being charged at close to £30.
We had multiple things wrong with the orders throughout the night, from requests not met, to dishes forgotten, to a corkage for a birthday cake slapped on the bill without any forewarning (understand why it is there but communicate that better, in the end I had to explain it to our table - not my job).
I would come back as I like the environment and what they are trying to do, but the value for money would need to be...
Read moreI must apologise to the staff at Mor for the delay in leaving this review. My girlfriend and I ate there last Thursday evening and I’ve been a bit busy. However, I feel obligated to share this little gem with the wider public, because quite frankly, Rhian and me both found the dining experience at Mor delightful. I chose the carpaccio to start and the brill for my main. Rhian chose the salmon to start and also went with the brill for her main. We shared our starters and we’re both delighted with each. The brill dish was sublime and I asked for some bread to wipe the dish with. We had a complimentary amuse bouche which was also delicious. Food aside, I can recommend the Medoc which was both reasonably priced and a fabulous accompaniment to our food. The service was excellent and the waiting staff were completely ‘on the ball’ with their food and wine knowledge. I made a point of telling them that this was without question one of my favourite ever dining experiences. The restaurant is pleasantly bijou, has a lovely buzz about it, excellent food, excellent wine and excellent service. Well done Mor for making our first evening out in a long time so enjoyable. We will be back soon!!!!!...
