Edit... We've been again after the food first time we went there was very reasonably in priced and exceptionally good too and we were not disappointed. Fantastic food once again and the with 2 pints it only came too £36 for us both. Thank you. 🍔🥩🍻🤌
Original review... Stumbled upon this pub the other day when me and the missus were looking for somewhere to have a late lunch together whilst we were on a break.
We planned to just have a burger meal and share it but we're happily surprised to find it was a 2-4-1 deal on all mains so we got 2 of the Cajun Chicken burgers with a few small sides (obviously not on the deal but cheap enough though) and a side of Onion Rings.
Oh my were weren't expecting how good the food was and how much there was too! 😂
As you can hopefully see from my pictures the burger was huge, I full large chicken fillet that's been flattened and seasoned on a bun. It was super tasty and the fries were great too. The Onions were fantastic too, vast in size and to my delight cooked perfectly so when you bit one for the first time you managed to bite though the batter and the onion without pulling the entire onion ring out with it. (I hate it when that happens)
The beer was really good too, we only had one San Michel each but it was really good with a proper head on it like a Guinness does.
The whole meal only came to £30, great value and service. I even had to put my head into the kitchen to say thank you it was that good. 👌
Long story short... We're...
Read moreMy hubby and I stayed for 2 nights, on the surface the room was gorgeous to look at however, the windows were all painted shut so we literally melted in the bedroom, the ceiling fan made little difference as it just circulated the warm stale air in the room. There was a vile smell of cigarettes in the hotel corridors which is obviously because the proprietors smoke in the staff quaters 🤢.we ate in the pub downstairs which was a 241, never ever have I waited so long for a meal, and when it did arrive it was no way worth the price even at the 241 deal, The young waitress could do with some training as the service was shocking and the place must be making a fortune because why else would we watch them turning at least 20 people away because they had bookings at 8, it was 5.45 !,!!!! Lol . Breakfast, again very poor, yoghurt prepoured onto granola , sat unchilled along with the milk and butter, no decaff coffee which is pathetic, toast which was more like warm bread and we actually heard the woman serving telling a customer they cudnt ave scrambled eggs with thier bacon n sausage as scrambled eggs was a seperate dish that came with smoked salmon, ffs how hard is it to stick the egg in the microwave...
Read moreCant fault the food at the pub/resturant but the way the staff treated us as we didnt have any i.d to proove ourselves for their rediculously long covid inspections was insane! Not only are they asking for name, address and phone number they are also checking temps and asking for i.d. when we phoned to make our booking we were not told we would need this and only had cash on us. Well we were then treated like leppers and 3 members of staff had to get involved. The attitudes were enough to get my temp up as is! I understand that covid is a big thing but honestly if they hadnt treated us so badly we prob would have returned. Also they were turning people away from an almost empty pub as they hadnt prebooked.... surely after being shut down for nearly a year and a half they cant afford to be doing this. If you are planning to vist this bar i would deffo say wait until restrictions are over. Very rude staff even when we had been seated. It wouldnt be so bad but the staff did all this inspection but then stood waaaay too close and also we had 4 different members of staff surve our table, how is that keeping to a bubble. Just very conflicting, we should have just walked away and found a different...
