I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant but unfortunately the experience didnāt live up to my expectations. We arrived as a party of 9. The first shock was the menu had changed - but not on their website (old menu still online). The pork belly we were looking forward to was no longer an option ⦠ok so we selected items on the new menu ( there arenāt many selections) only to be told there was no pork chops and then sometime later was then told there was no beef ragu either, so one of our party ended up having a āburgerā when she was looking forward to the pork belly and had run out of options. My smallest child ordered some chips (heās 9) we had to wait 1 hour 20 mins for our starters. They didnāt bring the little man his chips so he had to wait another 20 minutes, only to be presented with the smallest bowl of chips Iāve seen. The rest of the party ordered Rib Eye steaks, Lamb, Chicken Goujons, Pasta and a Burger. Generally the food was good but not a lot for the money and the excessive waiting. Btw the restaurant was not full. The Rib Eye contained gristle normally you would expect this to be rendered. Ok so itās not all negative, the Garlic Bread was excellent, the spring rolls were tasty and because of the wait we had 3 deserts free and the cheesecake was lush. The waitress was very pleasant. For the meal we had, the lack of options, the unexpected menu change, the extreme waiting times and the cost - I have to say Iām...
Read moreFirst visit to proper gander in tywyn. Not very impressed too be honest. The menu needs a bit more excitement. Firstly the starter I had was a mackerel fillet. It came as mackerel mush with whole peppercorns inside. So was tough to eat. It does not say on the menu that it was going to be pureed etc... Secondly I had a rib eye steak. The steak had a lot of inedible fat. I love a rib eye and choose this option whenever I have a steak so I understand that there is fat running through. But when you have to spit out big chunks it makes the experience disappointing. Especially when it's £30. Finally my wife sicked up her food as soon as she got back to the caravan. She had pasta and chorizo croquettes.
We paid full price and didn't mention anything when we were there as the place was empty and times are hard but had to leave a review as it needs a shake up too be honest. Bill came to £105. Bottle of wine Chorizo croquettes Mackerel mush Rib eye steak Pasta...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot my cup of tea. Very limited menu and the only thing I liked (pork chop) they did not have so was given belly pork as an alternative which I could not eat. Very expensive, uncomfortable seating and no atmosphere, very dark. Was stood in the main entrance for 10 minutes waiting for somebody to greet us but they never did so we took it upon ourselves to go upstairs where we found the dining area. As we were leaving another couple were doing the same thing as there were no signs telling you to go upstairs just an entrance hall and an unmanned bar area. The 2 stars are because the desserts were very enjoyable. EDIT* in response to the restaurantās unhelpful reply, as stated I ordered pork chop which was on the menu, but was...
