"Romilly's: A Bustling Beachside Gem at The Knap" Despite living 130 miles away in Sutton Coldfield, I've discovered this exceptional coffee shop near my daughter's home at The Knap. Arriving at 8:50 AM, ten minutes before opening, proved strategic as I secured a coveted parking space outside. The café's popularity became evident when, within twenty minutes of opening, it was already bustling with customers.

While waiting for my daughter and grandson's short walk from home, I ordered their expertly crafted flat whites. The breakfast didn't disappoint - their sausage and egg toasted sandwiches were absolutely delicious, and my grandson Frankie thoroughly enjoyed a slice of their homemade carrot cake, which proved to be a perfect sweet treat.

The café's success speaks volumes through their expansion - they've opened a second location just twenty yards away to accommodate their growing customer base. It's easy to understand why, as Romilly's consistently delivers exceptional service and quality food, complemented by stunning views across the Knap Gardens and Marine Lake.

The combination of friendly service, delicious food and drinks, and the picturesque waterfront setting makes Romilly's a must-visit destination, whether you're a local or, like me, traveling from afar to...

I'm never disappointed when I go visit Romilys. It's a lovely coffee shop/ café opposite the Knap Gardens. A great place for people to meet up with friends for a cuppa and a natter. The place is dog friendly although dogs can only sit outside, theres ample places to sit on the road side as well and around the back. There's a car park near by that's free for now so you can park up and have a coffee, maybe a sandwich or light lunch and take a stroll around the Knap and transport yourself back to when the Vistorians used to go for walks around the lake. If the tide is out you can also walk across Whitmore Bay and head towards Barry Island, it's a great walk and you don't have to get caught up in all thr traffic on busy days. Would definitely recommend Romilys, it's my go to place whenever I want to just relax and enjoy a nice stroll. Five stars...

This well established stalwart of The Knap parade offers a friendly and welcoming service and is a nice spot for a cuppa and cake. Or pannini, sandwiches, various other plates, tea, perhaps a beer... etc., but for me it's the coffee and cake.

Quaint interior decor with a rustic feel, and a good amount of outdoor seating/tables to the front, side, and rear.

Dog friendly outside.

Parking is, generally*, readily available in the (free) public car park adjacent to the café if no spaces are empty immediately outside in the street bays.

*Can occasionally get rather full and busy during peak holiday season and fine weather weekends.

Park up, have a cuppa, go for a wander around the park and...

We booked a table for 14 at Romilly's after our wedding ceremony in February and having been there before, I knew we were in safe hands feeding a huge family. The staff were incredibly helpful in the build up and asked us to pre order which made it easier for us and for them. The breakfast was delicious, the table was huge and comfortably fitted us all and everyone enjoyed a well earned fry up and enough pots of tea to feed the 500. A glass of bubbly given to us to toast our marriage was such a thoughtful touch and brought the whole morning together and we couldn't have been more grateful. Huge thank you to all the ladies, from us both!

Cute cafe with lake views. This cafe has all the feel of a welsh village cafe. Serving good coffee (best in Barry) plenty of breakfast and lunch options. Friendly staff. Bathrooms clean. Combine this with a walk around the lake. Plenty of beautiful white swans there and if you walk to the far end of the beach you will see the sea along pebble beach. Those who like a long walk or hike walk along the beach and up onto the point a high lookout over the bay. For those of you with children this cafe is near Romilly park. Just ask a local. Plenty of parking. Love your local guide- M♥️
