The Old Nags Head — Restaurant in Wales

I work all over the country and if I'm within distance of this pub I will stay overnight in Monmouth. "Found" the Old Nags 5 years ago and been in several times with my mate. Always made to feel welcome and some locals even ask where we have been if its a while since I visited. Its a great, good old fashioned pub. Unfortunately I hear its been "bought out" by Marstons!! What a waste. Brains bitter is one of the best. MARSTONS. Please dont ruin this pub by stripping it out and "tarting" it up to look like trendy place. It doesn't need it. This is a proper pub where you meet folk, drink proper beer and have a laugh and a joke. If I could buy the place, I would. See you all soon. Wayne...

Visited this pub with a group of friends whilst staying in Monmouth for the night.

Staff were very friendly and reasonable prices for the drinks on offer.

As we were a large group we tried to keep ourselves to one section rather than encroaching on the regular punters. Staff were very happy to have us which was nice compared to other areas.

Would recommend this venue if you are in the area and want a nice place to relax and...

Just had the most unwelcoming experience. Asked for a pint of shipyard and she said no & looked at me as if I was speaking double dutch. Pointed out the tap and she said they didn't have any. Then proceeded to say I was 'a bit weird' because I didn't want to 'try anything else'. Felt so unwelcome there. I appreciate something being out out stock, but there's a way to speak to...
