Visited here a number of times recently at various times, and found it a mixed bag really. Our first night happened to be Saturday night, and it was clear that the place was very popular, too popular really. Rather than it being the place to meet up and have some drinks before moving on to a club etc, this one seemed to be the main destination so sadly that night it was far to noisy and crammed full of people for our tastes. Found it difficult to get a table, and at one point the only one free (with any chairs!) we ended up sharing with another group because they couldn't find a table of their own. From 9pm it seemed that food was not really being served as we could only spot drinks on the tables, so we didn't attempt it. Our visit for breakfast the following morning was much more as expected, although it was still quite busy. The breakfast was no different to other Wetherspoon's we've visited, although if you've ordered the unlimited tea as your beverage of choice then you have to queue up at the bar and request a tea bag every time, rather than the teabags being with the sugar etc by the coffee machine - when I enquired why and if they could leave some there so I could save them some time, I got a rude response from the lad on the bar saying "we don't do that" as he turned away from me. Was not impressed with that behaviour! Other visits were much more like the normal level of people in there, although Friday evening was getting rather busy again before we decided to leave. Food was about right for Wetherspoons, although on one visit they didn't have a sauce for one of the Welsh dishes so was a little disappointed with that. Our visit coincided with their national craft beer and cider festival, and we were quite keen to try all the ciders on the list. However, we were very disappointed to find that they only actually had 2 of them at a time, and would only put another out when the other had run out. They therefore had the same two ciders on all week out of 5, which was a fiddle in our view, and there must have been some other disappointed people that wanted to try the other ciders. In summary, the place seems to have become a victim of it's own success with it being overly popular - it needs to expand the space it has really. Some of the staff aren't the best but others are very good, and don't go there for a cider festival as they probably won't have...
Read moreThis was our 1st family holiday for 20 years, we went to Pwllheli and stayed in the haven we thought we would have a day out in Pwllheli. We went to the pen cob for lunch and we was turned away due to escorting my dad who was in a wheelchair along with my grandmother who is also in a wheelchair. We walked in and struggled to find a table, we managed to find one and started to sit down when a member of staff came marching over saying we could not sit there due to blocking an exit. My dad and my grandma where getting out of their wheelchairs and they where going to be folded and put to the side out of the way. We tried to explain this to the member of staff but he was adamant we could not sit there unless you where in a pram.. so as my dad who is 64 and my grandmother who is 86 was not sat in a pram we where not allowed to sit there, now where is the discrimination? Rather then help us find an alternative table he walked off. My questions are. Clearly on your door you cater for disabilities- clearly not. The staff you have working for you are ignorant to those with a disability. Do not advertise you are accessible when your clearly not. Where is the customer service. We walked out and found somewhere else, we will not be using your restaurants again, and to say it spoilt our day is a...
Read moreCame from porthmadog for breakfast courtesy of daughter of friend as a special treat yesterday. Very busy and noisy but to be expected so fine. Been here before and food, service and staff were excellent. What a difference!! Food vastly overcooked, tomatoes burnt to a sunder literally and replaced, fried eggs solid and so overcooked, vegetarian sausage was so baked and solid it could not be stabbed with a fork or cut with a knife, and the pat of butter for the toast had completely liquidised and could not be used, ran out onto the toast!!!
Asked for manager to see the very poor meals but not really interested, offered to refund a meal but credited it to wrong person as we had moved tables, her communication skills were poor to zero and the implication was that it was our fault anyway! Generally, staffing poor and disorganised, no quality control on food leaving kitchens, Having frequented Witherspoon's all over the country on at least a weekly basis if not more, this was the worst weal we have ever been served and would have been ashamed to have served the same myself. It is an insult to the impeccably high standard I have always received from other wethespoon...
