Typical pub offerings, from sandwiches to steaks. We wanted two mixed grills, queued at bar in dining room, one person serving. Took 10 minutes. Became obvious they were short staffed. Waited over half an hour, asked about our food, it would be another 20 minutes. Went out to move the car. A further half an hour later food arrived. Very nice, absolutely no problems at all with it. At the end the barmaid offered us £3.00 as we had to pay extra for parking. We declined,it was a lovely gesture. She explained that she was the manager but 3 staff short due to sickness and holiday, and she had to call her mother in to help out. Can I just say that I'd like to think we were unlucky to have to wait. Will eat here again. Please get the staffing situation sorted, but would recommend...
Read moreThe people at this pub are the nicest people you will meet while traveling in wales. We were lost trying to find a cab to take us to our residence that was outside of monmouth. We were in the pub for a few drinks and asked them if the could help us out finding a cab. There was no one willing to drive us because they had already finished their shifts (this was around 4pm đ). As it would have taken us 2h on foot with all our luggage, one of the owners was soooo kind to drive us himself. We could not believe our luck. We want to thank him again for helping us out in such a big way. We hope to visit again some day đ» all the best of luck to the future of the nicest...
