On visiting for the first time we went in, looked at the coffee menu as that was all we wanted and ordered 2 lattes. After sitting for approx. 15 mins I glanced at the rest of the menu only to see at the far right hand side, after all the coffee menu, teas and hot chocolate options that it stated all milk drink were oat based. On asking the member of staff if she could confirm if the milk used was gluten free she said they couldn’t say for sure and for me to have a read of the packaging, however they do have gluten free milk and stated that we should ask for that next time. No offer to make another coffee and it was left as I am gluten free for allergy reasons rather than lifestyle choice. My point is that in my view anything allergy related should be clearly stated maybe at the top of the menu board where it can be seen when looking at the full menu rather than at the end of the menu which many people, us included wouldn’t read through if only a coffee was wanted. I did email the company the raise this concern and after 5 days no response, possibly a need to look at customer service in store...
Read morePositives +Lovely plant based cafe and just what Monmouth needed! +The breakfast muffin/ roll is lovely as are a number of their cakes. +Dog friendly inc upstairs. +Staff have always been very welcoming and friendly although more often than not they seem understaffed.
Negatives -Loads of wasps with no covers on food. A number of times I’ve actually not bought what I went in for due to wasps crawling all over the items or left with just a drink. **The staff have recently started to close the door, which seems to have helped, but definitely need to do something about it next year/ add protection to cakes as it’s very off putting. -Prices are very high even for plant based especially the smoothies. -More milk options. I’m a lover of oat milk however there are a number of other options on the market so offering one or two others would be nice (soya,...
Read moreVegan place without stating it anywhere, and I'm so glad I didn't have a coffee, would hate to drink oat "milk" coffee. The pizza slice had a lovely crust, but it was somewhat tasteless, and now that I know it was vegan, it makes perfect sense. Same goes for pastries - they seemed nice, but not quite right, and afterwards I felt sick from it, and I felt I had far more sugar than I should have had, which is typical for vegan products - super processed food with a lot of chemicals but most importantly a ton of sugar to make up for lack of taste that would come naturally in healthy way from milk. Prices are not cheap, but I wouldn't mind if I received 5-star food instead of vegan nonsense. I hope the bread is going to be nice, but now knowing it's made without butter, I'm...
