Myself and my daughter went to the Windsor for lunch today. On arrival we were presented with the lunchtime menu, which stated on the top of the menu 2 course for £10.95 or 3 courses for £13.95. Myself and my daughter asked the waitress if we could have a main meal and a desert as part of the deal or was the deal for a starter and main course only. The waitress said we could have either. We then ordered a main course and a desert with a soft drink each. The food was very nice. However when we came to pay the bill we were presented with a bill for £40. We challenged the bill and were told by the waitress that the meals we had ordered were not part of the lunchtime deal. When we challenged this further we were advised that only the meals with the dots next to them were included in the lunch time deal. (we didn't actually see any dots on the menu). We found this to be very misleading as this was not obvious on the menu, nor did the waitress mention this when we asked what we could actually have as part of the lunch time deal. This whole experience has lead us both to be of the mind not to return to the Windsor again. If you do visit the windsor make sure you ask the question of what you can have as part of the deal and dont be caught out by the misleading menu...

However when called to book the table I was politely told only 12 o'clock table available, which was fine but this would have been a good customer service opportunity to remind me(assuming I'd read small print) that the offer of free lunch for mum would not be available. I then could have made the decision to book anyway, instead of feeling duped. Saying that the customer service of the waitresses and managers was lovely, all very friendly and apologetic when they realised that we thought mums meal was free, that did not stop my embarrassment felt as party organiser. OK so customer service fab just slight improvement needed when taking orders when offers are on. The food was lovely too, except the sprouts lots of them burned, otherwise we enjoyed...
Read moreWe arrived at 16:55 and asked if they were serving food and the staff looked both confused and bothered we asked.
We were sat alone in dining area which was nice butt felt as though we were forgotten about. The starter came and we had to ask for cutlery.
Food came with a very bland risotto for my main course and an overcooked Luke warm steak for my wife's main course.
We were again forgotten about and had to go down to the bar to ask for a desert.
Miserable staff with sub par dining experience. Will give another...
