This Saturday myself and six friends went out in Kenilworth for some drinks to celebrate my birthday, everything was fantastic until the end of the night at Lil Greens. We arrived around 11.30pm and had bought at least three rounds of drinks without any issue. After buying the final round costing roughly £40 at 12.30am we sat back down at our table to see the lights turned up on full brightness making it clear it was time for us to leave! Slightly annoying, as we had just bought drinks but not the end of the world. Then what I thought was a joke at first, the doorman opened up the double doors at the entrance to the bar instantly making the room freezing cold! It was clearly done to get everyone out as quick as possible! In shock and thinking they were joking we politely asked if they could shut the doors as we had just bought a round of drinks and we were now freezing cold!!! They refused and said they did this all the time and nobody had ever complained! When we protested further they said 'who was going to pay for their time' if we didn't leave quickly! We left at about 12.45 so fifteen minutes after buying the round of drinks. Its not a cheap place to drink and I think its outrageous to treat customers this way. Be warned and make sure you take a thick coat, hat and gloves if you are planning to stay late on a...
Read moreThis place has a lovely vibe that is let down by some of the basics.
As you can see from the photo, the layout and decor here is great. Comfortable seating if you want it or tables and chairs if you’re dining. There’s also two bars and a mezzanine. It’s a ‘cool’ place to be (and a former Chinese restaurant).
The problem is the staff. Or, at least, the attitude of the staff. Which I think is either down to the fact there are not enough of them, or how well/poorly they’ve paid or how they’re managed. Or a combination of all three!
Either way, what could be a great time is often made less great by slow or non-existent service and sometimes lack-lustre attitudes.
For example, we had a small party on the mezzanine recently. There was only one person serving at the bar upstairs. While he wasn’t too bad, it took ages for people to get their drinks. The bar itself was soaked in spilt drink. Which meant you got a wet elbow if you leaned on it! They also forgot to put out a knife for the birthday cake we had plus not enough glasses for the toast. And so on.
Each issue in itself wasn’t super bad but the overall experience is left wanting.
This could be an awesome place to go. And I wish it well. But they need to address some of these basics of customer experience...
Read moreSuch a shame, visited lil greens on numerous occasions, always found the food lovely but the service always lacks immensely.. today popped in for a quick drink and a bite to eat. Lacking in bar service, slow & incompetent service! Table bookings requested online day before not acknowledged! - by other users (not myself) staff who clearly would rather be somewhere else than serving customers! No structure between dining/pub! Waited 5 minutes to be served with only one other person being served at the bar and four other members of staff polishing glass wear and chatting at the end of the bar! Waited 1hour 20mins for food with no acknowledgement of delay! Only to be informed 30 mins after a starter order (to arrive with mains!) the main items we ordered were not in stock! What! Honestly. Poor, poor service! Management clearly not able to run shift, assign job roles between bar/dining.. one young lad (very pleasant and enthusiastic) trying his best running around and delivering manger messages to unhappy customers! Clearly lacking in structure! Serious need of management over hall! Not one to leave reviews but one very...
