I recently popped into the M&S Cafe for a quick bite, drawn in by the inviting aroma of fresh pastries and brewed coffee. While I was hopeful for a delicious and refreshing experience, my visit turned out to be not quite as stellar as I had anticipated.
First off, the atmosphere inside the cafe is quite pleasing—bright and airy with cozy seating options, perfect for a casual meal or a catch-up with friends. I appreciated that the cafe was clean and well-organized. However, my enthusiasm waned as I approached the counter where service, unfortunately, wasn’t as warm as the interior.
While the staff were polite, they seemed somewhat rushed and detached during the ordering process. I waited around ten minutes for my food, and while the cafe was moderately busy, I sensed there was a lack of communication that made the experience feel a bit chaotic.
When my meal finally arrived, I was impressed by the presentation—it certainly looked appetizing! The sandwich I ordered was fresh and tasty, living up to the M&S reputation for quality. However, the coffee, which I had eagerly anticipated, fell flat; it was lukewarm and lacked the rich flavor I expect from a good brew. It almost felt like my cup had been sitting around for too long.
Overall, my trip to M&S Cafe was a mix of highs and lows. While the food quality and ambiance are undeniable perks, the service left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. I guess my experience can be summed up as average—room for improvement. If you're in the area, it might be worth a visit for the sandwich alone, but perhaps don’t go in expecting a top-notch coffee or sparkling customer interaction. Here’s hoping for a brighter experience on...
Read moreVisited the cafe recently and was dismayed to see majority of tables covered with dirty crocks. We picked the least dirty table and moved the pots aside and when our coffees arrived, asked the waitress if she could clear the table as she just went to walk away without even attempting to clear it. To say that her attitude was less than friendly is an understatement but she sighed and took it all. We watched her and the rest of the staff for the rest of our visit and no-one even attempted to clear the tables despite the fact that they clearly weren't busy and were just chatting. Some ladies sat at the next table and also commented how disgusting it was that no-one was clearing anything away. On leaving I went up to the counter and asked why it was in such a state to be told that they were short staffed and hadn't had time to clear them. They clearly had lots of time to just stand around and chat! She also said that they weren't going to clear them now and were waiting till till closing time! Unbelievable lack of customer service. M&S get your act together and start training your staff properly. You seem to forget that you rely on your customers! I did complain to a manager and was promised a call but nothing as yet. Certainly won't...
Read moreWe came here for the first time and I ordered the Butterscotch Oat Milk latte which was really good. It didn’t look like the photos with the coffee art which was a shame but still tasted great.
I ordered a bowl of chips which were just frozen chips put in the oven. The quality was very poor for M&S, I would’ve just bought a bag of frozen chips and made them at home instead if I had known.
There was also no salt or pepper on the table or available where the sugar and coffee stirrers were which is unusual for a cafe.
The one good thing they had here was a tap water machine, where you could help yourself with cups provided.
The tables were all cleared away although not sprayed and cleaned, but there were plenty of people working yet only one man running...
