Shocking experience just now. Went in and asked if there was anywhere we could sit as our 2 year old was in the car and we didn’t want to go through the hassle of getting her out of the car to find out there wasn’t somewhere to sit. We were informed there was a table free in the bar, so I ran back out to the car with a thumbs up. We then went to the bar where the member of the team was good enough to clean a high chair and seat us.

After having a good look through the menu’s we were ready to order, a bearded man appears not to take our order, but to ask us if we had a booking and that we could no longer sit there and would a sofa be okay? Now, having a 2 year old in a high chair and already being seated who was already hungry and thinking she was about to eat and had asked for broccoli. (no reserve sign on the table may I add where there were on numerous other tables). Feeling a little miffed due to the situation I then explained that we had checked before sitting and we’re told that this table was fine to sit at, the bearded man then said “sorry, that’s not my problem”.

Absolutely appalling service and I left very upset and hungry. To add to that, we had to put our now confused (and hungry) 2 year old back in the car and drive home.

From a nice Sunday lunch treat for the family (let’s face it, the prices The Moorings charge it’s exactly that!) I’m now at home drinking a protein shake.

My daughter however got her broccoli! The only positive that came out of this quite frankly shocking...

Sunday lunch today was our 3rd visit to The Moorings, but certainly not our favourite. The place was relatively quiet ad we were shown to our table by the window, which was nice. While we were waiting for our order, the fire alarm went off 4 times, with no explanation. We looked over to the bar staff and they were just laughing and chatting. At no point did anyone come to explain what was happening. The siren was right above our table so every time it went off, we nearly jumped out of our skin. After the 4th time, I shouted over to one of the bar staff to ask what was going on, and he said the alarm is broken. I told him it would have been nice to have an explanation and an apology and only then did we get an apology. Still no explanation though. The food was actually delicious although we were a little disappointed with the way they brought the veg to the table. It was split into vegan and non-vegan. Since there was only one of the 3 of us eating the vegan option, the other 2 had to share so we told the waiter we felt this was a little unfair. When we wanted to order dessert, all the bar staff were at the bar chatting to each other again, so I had to raise my hand as none of the staff was being attentive enough to spot me trying to catch their attention. Same problem with paying the bill so we were tempted to just walk out in an attempt to get their attention. Maybe it was just the staff on duty today (Sunday 13th Feb 2022), but whilst the food was lovely, the service was poor, to...

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was quite disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the service was slow and disorganized. We waited an unusually long time for someone to take our order, even though other customers who arrived after us were served more quickly.

We had to ask twice for cutlery and napkins, which were completely forgotten. The drinks order was mixed up, and they brought the main course while completely forgetting the starter. When we asked about it, they seemed surprised.

There was an umbrella stand, but when we asked for shade, we were told they didn’t have one because it was broken—so we had to sit in the blazing sun. I ordered the fish fillet, and the portion was ridiculously small—literally just half a fillet. My partner had the Sunday roast, and the pork crackling was so tough it was impossible to chew—it felt like it could break your teeth.

Some of our friends ordered burgers, but they were underwhelming and not tasty—half of the food was left on the plate. The side dishes served with the Sunday roast were overcooked and soggy. To make matters worse, there were no ashtrays provided, and we had to go find menus ourselves as no one brought them to us.

The prices were exorbitant considering the quality of the food and service. On top of everything, the staff weren’t particularly friendly or helpful.

All in all, a poor experience—we expected much more and unfortunately left very...

Pros: The place is great and so stylish, could make very beautiful pictures. Its with a great view to water, The staff are helpful and welcoming. Coffee is so good, coming is perfect temperature. Lots and lots of parking spaces! The place was not busy when we visited but we had booked in advance just in case. Cons: The menu is very brief, I expected more options for brunch. The muffins we tried were in a bit on the dry side of muffins and small spread of Avo. The American pancakes we tried were on thin side, expected to be more thick and fluffy. Generally a good experience! Would recommend

The photos and website suggests so much more. A quay side location, with calm and beautiful surroundings. This may have been the truth at some point. Yesterday it was dirty, cheerless and dreary. Even 26c sunny weather didn't help. The canal was dirty and the bridge was covered with graffiti, the road noise was oppressive and the clientele were young drinkers. Two of the draft beers were off and the lager selection was reduced. A great place for a younger crowd, but not a location for calm reflection. Leave it for those wanting to party not relax.

Decided to stay away from the usual services on M40 and get some proper food so Leamington Spa was the choice. We had no idea where we were going to find a place but we drove over a bridge and noticed this place by the river. In we went and it was amazing. Staff were great and the food OMG! See how they bring knives and forks... Very stylish. And the location by the river with boats passing by was just the cherry on top. I'm never eating at the services on the M40 ever again! It's the Moorings from now on.
