We booked 12pm for Sunday lunch and asked if we could be sat by the fire. It was roaring and wonderfully cozy on a cold morning.
We were greeted like we were long lost friends, sat and ordered our drinks. We then ordered our Sunday lunches and took the kids to the park for a play whilst they prepared it.
We were called in a couple of minutes before the food arrived and golly gosh it was AMAZING! My 2 children (who are huge fans of stuffing) shared a child's pork and nut roast. They are now full nut roast addicts- it was absolutely delicious. I had the roast beef which was beautifully pink and tender. My friend had the roast pork with crackling, and all the trimmings including cauliflower cheese which was equally delicious. The roast potatoes were 10/10!
The pub started to fill and had a warm family atmosphere. People laughing and enjoying food and nothing was too much to ask! We were very full so decided to take a walk to the Comyn where we had a play in the parks there.
We walked back to the pub and were thrilled to now have room for desert! My friend and I both had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and the caramel sauce is just to die for! The kids had strawberry ice cream.
Really really lovely time and would recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxed, welcoming and delicious...
Read moreWe have been here a few times now, and we are always greeted well and with a smile. Drinks were offered straight away and time given to decide what we were eating, we both went for the roast, my friend went for the beef, which see said was beautifully cooked and very tasty, being vegetarian I went for the nut roast, which I have had before and thoughtfully enjoyed, I’ve had them at other pubs and never been a fan, unfortunately this time the nut roast was like a house brick, it was such a big portion it put me off and it was so dry I couldn’t eat it, also the roasted carrot was really hard and neither of us could eat them , the parsnip was just about edible for me but not my friend, then my favourite part of a roast is the Yorkshire pudding, and unfortunately that was burnt to the point you couldn’t cut it even with lots of gravy on it, saying all that… the ready of the dinner was really tasty, the roast pots we’re better then other pubs I’ve been to. Although it was the exceptional standard we have had in the past it was still a nice meal and a pleasant experience. Will be...
Read moreClean, nice staff, good food. Huge car park and although we didn’t need it, lovely play area out front. Great choice of soft drinks. Beautifully presented food. Flavours of potatoes and meat were muted by the rich gravy which they were covered in. The cauliflower cheese sauce was weirdly runny but the cauliflower itself was delicious - as was the parsnip. Portion sizes were spot on and I loved the serving dishes. I like places where the menu is on a printed piece of paper because you know the chef isn’t just going through the motions of making food but has put thought and fresh ingredients in to their menu. Made me a lovely gluten free crumble and the custard was delightful - light and not overly sweet. (Gluten free options are printed in a muted tone on the menu so if you’re looking for GF don’t skim read as I did!) Server and other staff worked hard and were attentive without being over the top. It was a really...
