The owners of Mill Garden are incredibly kind and welcoming. They clearly put their heart and soul into maintaining this beautiful space and ensuring that every visitor feels at home. Read moreHere is a hidden gem of a garden; right in the vicinity of Warwick castle itself. It is owned by Julia Russell and her husband who enjoy looking after this place along with hired help. You start by the house and raised beds with a brightly coloured display of bedding and rockery plants.
You pass by cottage borders on the left and can choose which path to follow. Either left down the slope or right onto circular brick steps. You then see the river Avon close to the garden's edge. Then go right and under a tree to see vast mixed borders framing a seating area with benches. The views of the Weir and the castle fortress are amazing.
There is a secret garden path through evergreen hedge tunnels to reach the woodland garden where the planting is spot on for the shaded area.
You can even buy for a reasonable price a good selection of perennials that are grown here. The owners are friendly to talk to and helpful with any plant enquiries. It costs £3 to go in and as far as I'm concerned, it's a bargain. There is so many plants packed in and many in flower at the same time it's overwhelming gorgeous for enthusiasts. This place deserves more recognition and visitors to whether to the castle or the...
Read moreEven if you don't visit any of the other many places in Warwick please make sure you find time to visit this wonderful place! What a fairytale place! Little house with a maze of roofs and an amazing garden. The owner lady comes out with the tray of vegetable soup, bowl of scrambled eggs and wheat bread and butter. Her husband is sitting on the bench outside in the sun and waiting for his darling to join him for dinner. In a few words of chat she explains that her father started a garden and opened it for visitors around 100 years ago and now she continues with it. They both reside in the house and they both are 86 now. The garden is like a little fairy tale! Wandering around I discovered a folder with many Thanks letters from places where Julie and David been donating income from visitor fee. Bare in mind it is only £3,- cash or card. By paying this you will be seeing the labour of love as well as supporting...
