O Watford — Restaurant in Watford

We attended the Mean Girls Brunch (advertised I believe on social media, my wife made the booking) on Sunday 3rd October. We discovered that the ‘Mean Girls’ theme only covered the themed cocktails which were completely separate in price from the Bottomless Brunch menu and cocktails so attendees couldn’t swap or upgrade to have the Mean Girls cocktails as part of the bottomless offer. The character masks, tiaras and lip sweets were a cute touch though and the soundtrack playing on the PA system but it would have been nice to have the Brunch & Cocktails as a package as it was advertised as such but the small print didn’t match the perception.

None of the bar staff had been briefed about this and they did their best to accommodate us but they couldn’t alter the offers in any way other then the rigid way the bills/till worked - the 3 of us in our party thought and said this was poor planning by the company who control S&L. I had a lengthy chat to several of the bar staff working that day (while they were serving myself and other customers) and discovered that a few of them had been working until 4am Sunday morning and were back at the bar from morning/mid afternoon the same day. They looked tired and stressed so I really felt for them having to keep going.

I think management need to give them more support and/or more staff so they can get the proper rest they need to do a very demanding job. We did have a good time but it could have been improved if the staff were given more guidance.

Booked and paid for a bottomless brunch (outside seating) in advance. Arrived late due to traffic, on arrival instantly the woman at the desk was rude, telling me that I'm late and that the bottomless brunch would end at the time agreed no matter what, which was fine with me. My partner had forgotten her wallet which contained her mask and id but since it was outside and I had already pre paid. We were told we wouldn't be allowed to be seated until we have a mask for her, had to go buy a mask to then, immediately be seated outside and there was no use for the mask. We were then refused service by the same lady because my partner did not have her ID even though she does not look under 25, which we were told this was the reason she was refused service. We proceeded to still stay and try make the most of it and waited for over 15 minutes before anyone even came to take our orders. We asked to speak to the manager and this same woman came out and refused to give us her name so we can make a complaint, even though we had asked for the manager. I have been to this place before with people under 18 and they have been served, so I feel like this was a personal attack from this woman, towards us. I will never be returning or recommending to any of your establishments. I had planned my friends stag drinks there but this will not happen and you can thank the woman serving...

We arrived at the Slug and Lettuce at 6.30 having booked a table at 8. We were happy to sit another table until we could go to the reserved table however when we sat down we noticed it was very loud as there was a speaker above the table. This impacted our ability to communicate as one of my friends is hearing impaired. We decided to wait until 8 hoping that our booked table would be quite and further away from a speaker. However, when we moved to the table we found that it was even louder as a speaker was even closer. We raised this with the bar staff and explained the situation. We asked if we could swap to the table next to us which as also reserved but empty, but was identical to ours. This table was further away from the speaker and so quieter. The bar staff said no. We asked if the DJ could possibly turn the music down as it was still very early and it was stopping our ability to communicate with our friend and they said they'd talk to the DJ, but they never did and the music only hot louder. This was really disappointing, and I'm sorry to say that it doesn't seem like the Slug and Lettuce is an inclusive bar that caters to customers with all needs.
