This place is an amazing find for anyone looking for genuince South Indian food made by a South Indian family. The couple at work have the true homely touch for all South Indian food they prepare.
I have tried the following dishes so far and will go again.
Masala Dosa (Pretty good). Sambhar Vadai (Absolutely 5 star. Pretty much the best in the world that I've had so far). Cauliflower Manchurian. (Spicy! Order when you're sure). Schezchuan fried rice (Spicy! Order when you're sure).
There's nearby parking at Sainsbury's huge parking log in the centre of Watford so you can park there and walk down Watford Parade and find Watford Dosa nestled in the units under the bridge.
As you enter, Watford dosa will be on your left. It is a super-cozy place so a family of 3-4 can manage to squeeze in or a small table outside can accommodate up to 4 adults.
Their main appeal is probably take-away and deliveries but if you want to enjoy South Indian food, you already know you want to have it as soon as it has been prepared.
There's also plenty of seating upstairs (Picnic bench type) so you can do a takeaway and eat right upstairs (20 steps up) but you'll be better off having it on the ground...
Read moreI had the best meal at Watford Dosa! We stumbled across it,looking for something to eat pre-new years and we were delighted with our meal here. Dosa- beautifully crispy, literally the perfect dosa. Their sambal was incredible. The coconut chutney complimented it all perfectly. Thali- for £12.50 you get 4 delicious currys, rice, paratha, potato yumness and two different types of poppadom + a sweet treat too. Everything was mouth wateringly delicious and complimented everything on the plate. Paneer curry- so so so good! This was meal between 3 very hungry people and it worked out at £11 a head, including a fizzy pop for each of us, and we were stuffed and thrilled with our meal. This place is worth visiting, I spend a lot of my time looking for amazing indian food and I have to say this has just bumped every other restaurant off the top spot! Thank you for such a scrummy meal and the lovely service, I...
Read moreI had a wonderful experience at Watford Dosa. The food is absolutely delicious and authentic – every dish tasted freshly prepared and full of flavour. The dosa was perfectly crisp, the sambhar was rich and comforting, and the chutneys were spot on.
The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel very welcome from the moment we walked in. The service was quick despite the restaurant being busy, and the atmosphere was vibrant yet comfortable.
What I really loved is that the menu offers such a wide variety – from classic South Indian dosas and idlis to Indo-Chinese dishes and thalis. Everything we tried was excellent, and the portions were generous.
It’s truly a gem in Watford, and we’re lucky to have such high-quality South Indian food right here on the High Street. I’ll definitely be coming back regularly and highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys authentic...
